I know everyone is still mourning the loss to the patriots but, we seriously have to get our phinatic minds on these Texans. These Texans have never lost to us, EVER!!!!! They have the best wide receiver in the game, and the last time he faced off vs sean smith, he was left reception-less in the second half.

If you know anything about the texans, you know they have Mario Williams, Demarco Ryans, jonathan Joseph, an athletic zone blocking oline, and Matt Shaub.

Here is what we know about Matt Shaub.

  • He puts up great numbers
  • He is accurate
  • He is not a second half player

So, we need to get to him early and often because once the second half comes around, he is no where near as effective.

Their defense just added "The Genius" Wade Phillips as their d-coordinator. The guy just knows how to create an elite defense. The problem is, this defense is probably the worst secondary he's had to work with.

Wade likes to blitz, disguise blitzes, and confuse the quarterback.. The problem is, thats hennes specialty. So, I expect us to take advantage of mario williams at outside linebacker and bess and reggie to have games and a half.

Pretty much, we are in for a great game. the Texans are built to play against the Colts. Their zone blocking isnt going to really work against our dline because we are too big. Expect a close game, and a chance to win late.

go fins!

Good post. I expect another shoot out. Hopefully, we are on the good side of the shoot out this time.

Offensively, we should be fine between the 20's. Defensively, we match up better with the Texans style of offense.

If we capitalize inside the 20, it'll be close. If we don't, expect a 10+ point loss.

You got to explain that to me. We've never beat this team in 5 tries. The last time we played them (2009) they beat us 27-20 in Miami and rolled up 406 yards of offense. We had only 1 sack in the game with 3 QB hits. Foster had 97 yards and 1 TD on 19 carries (5.1 ypc) and Schaub was 20/31 for 286 and 2 TDs with 1 INT.

That was with Paul Pasqualani. The Texans don't have that second TE to account for like the Patriots. They also don't have the Wes Welker type player to give our nickel DB fits. The Patriots are a match up nightmare. The Texans are a good offense, but one that can be much easier game-planned for than the Pats. I think we'll have a much better indication of where our defense is at after Sunday.

Let's face it, whoever drew NE in week 1 was going to be scorched. This was an offense that had an offseason to adjust and gameplan around their 2 gamebreaking TEs. Last season they were rookies. This season they went in expecting to contribute. That offense will come back down to earth after a few weeks, once these Defensive Coordinators get some game tape to review. We went in blind, and it showed. No, this was not the same offense as last season. It was one that adjusted to a WR core without Moss and a glaring strength at the TE position...

we should rebound and win this game. watch columbo vs mario williams tho. we had better find a way to win this matchup. just keep ur fingers crossed that we dont somehow get some unlucky bounces and end up on the wrong side of a not only winnable game, but a game that is already a must win in week 2. marino said it himself. we start off 0-2 and have to goto new york and san diego its gonna get REALLY ugly really fast.

no they had the entire offseason to prepare for US. which is what we should have been doing. building our roster to beat the patriots in week ONE....its the only game that should have mattered on the schedule. and another glaring example of why this staff doesnt know how to win in this league. they were not focused on beating new england in WEEK ONE. cutting will allen, bringing in LJ late, cutting him, bringing him back, not adding to the secondary in the offseason are all proof of this. cant win ur division if u cant beat the pats. cant count on the playoffs if u cant win ur division

I am sure our players cant wait for this game too..I hope they are chomping at the bit for Texans.

we gotta be due against this team. is jason allen still over there? throw at him! lol

I think you are overestimating how much time the Patriots were preparing for us. I'd put money on them not game planning much until the week before the game, just like it's done with every other team on the schedule. Especially with a shortened off season, they needed to get their roster taken care of before even thinking about us...

Allen is going to be playing the nickel. "Ice" Kareem will be the CB2 across from Jonathan Joseph.

If he's playing the nickel I hope we run a lot of 3 WR sets. Should be a big day for Devone Bess.

Why not just try to pick on Kareem Jackson, who is probably just as bad as Allen and will be the CB2?

EDIT:

Also, for those who think Matt Schaub isn't a second half player, I can point out a lot of games from last year, and from 2009 where Schaub had to lead great come backs from behind in the 2nd half.

This one immediately springs to mind.

Also this masterpiece from 2008.
