2 questions..... If you were Jeff Ireland\Bill, what would you do with the 1st overall pick and how would you deal with the Jayson Taylor issue?
Assuming you can't trade out of #1, you must select a player.

With the first pick in the 2008 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins select.......

Jake Long. Lock up the Left Tackle position for the next 10-12 years and forget about it.

Well, if I'm the GM, with the first pick of course I'd try to trade & pick up some extra picks. If that's not possible then I'm probably drafting Cris Long. I was impressed on what I saw at the Combine. Now concerning JT, I'd keep him unless being offered a deal that I can't refuse (like a 1st & 4th round draft pick). With the second rounders, I'm picking some interior linemen. Offensive Guards more than likely. 2nd round has always been the best place to draft Guards. I might even try to get a WR all pending on the talent level for what's left in the second round.

Jake Long and keep taylor. i would actualy let taylor decide and make a move if he wanted to go...

Jake Long. I'm tired of having to relearn the names of all the Olinemen every offseason.

Oh, and JT stays. If I'm the GM, I have already made a bold move cutting ZT, and JT still has some good football left in him, so I keep him.

Unless someother team knocks me off my feet with a trade offer. Anything in the first round, or a few quality starters with a later round pick.

Chris long, and I would try and trade Taylor. I wouldn't accept less than a 2nd round pick, but I might consider a conditional 2nd from next year.

I would Draft Chris Long, thinking I could still get a quality OT in the second round. Tough call though.

This might be completely crazy, but wonder if we drafted McFadden, if then we could get a deal going for more picks and a great player in a trade with another team that is coveting McFadden, but figured the fins wouldn't take him. Wonder if that would force their hand at all to make a good deal with us? Just a weird thought....

As for JT, I hate to say this, but I would definetly shop him around, especially If we plan to draft C. Long. If I can get 2nd and 4th for him, I jump on it.

Jake Long. 2nd and 3rd for Taylor if we can get it, or I have no problem with him staying.
I would also try and get L.Fitz here even if that means us giving up picks this year and next. When you get great talent in return it's worth it.

SabanHater,i agree with you on this....Jake Long. 2nd and 3rd for Taylor if we can get it, or I have no problem with him staying....i really think&believe we need to lock up our LT position for the next decade, and Jake appears to be the best of the OT out there in the draft.

1. Try to trade with Falcons, if not, keep pick and take Chris Long.

2. Keep Jason unless someone send a trade option my way that would knock
....my socks off (a #2+....or something better).

Trade Taylor if you can get multiple high picks.

And with the first pick I look to trade it as well. But if I can not, I am taking Chris Long. Yesterday I would have said Jake Long, but after looking at some of Boomer's analysis and reading about the Dolphin's inquiry of the Boise State OT, I am sensing he may have trouble playing on the left. Not than any rookie would n't have trouble playing on the left, but if you are the first pick of the entire draft you have to be more of a sure thing than he is right now. I watched Chris Long at the combine and he is technically sound. And I am not completely unsure he couldn't play DE either. But I expect him to play on the outside. My long shot decision would be to sign Ryan. I would have to be more convinced than I am currently that he is a franchise qb.
p.s., I like the players signed by Miami and the philosophy being used in making the choices. I never thought I would be as excited to get a backup fb than I was yesterday. Why? He is a wedgebuster and one of the best in the league. We never replaced Bowens and Izzo.

Can't win without a QB. Draft Matt Ryan. We'll be rebuilding for at least 3 years and will have plenty of time to address our other needs, but we may only get one shot to draft an elite prospect at QB.

I'm thinking J. Long. I was on C long just the other day but I think Jake can come in and play RT until he's ready to move left. I think Chris is a tweener, not quite big enough for DE in a 3-4, not used to covering a TE or RB. Remember BP likes them BIG. I hate to draft a tackle that high but that might be the best bet. For JT at least a 2nd, maybe a 3 this year and a 2 next, or a 3 and 4 this year and a 3 next.
