Former Phin that is fighting a fatal disease:
HOUSTON (CBS Houston) Defeat is not and never has been a trademark of former NFL and Rice star linebacker and special teams’ player O.J. Brigance. He is in the fight of his life against ALS; a disease that knows no cure.

However, being confined to a wheel chair while having to communicate through a machine with his eyes because he can no longer speak, has not prevented him from tirelessly searching for a cure or helping others afflicted with the dreadful disease.

I remember ESPN's story on this guy's struggle, Ray Lewis in tears. Sad.

terrible news. i remember also this former saints player steve gleason also was diagnosed with als recently. any disease is terrible, but a disease in which you know what the fate will be and their is nothing that can be done is horrific. thoughts and prayers to both players and their families.

Had not idea this had happpened to him, really horrible news, all my prayers and best wishes to him and his family.

Man, such horrible news. My prayers and thoughts go out to OJ Brigance and his family as he battles with this unfortunately fatal disease.

That's just awful; so sorry to hear this. Since there's no graceful end game to Lou Gehrig's Disease, hopefully OJ, between now and its inevitable conclusion can still maintain some fulfilling, albeit compromised, quality of life for himself and with his family.

These capricious genetic rolls of the dice really do make you stop to think where those pungent smelling roses may be located.

@OJBrigance twitter, I say we here at finheaven light up his day with some well wishes.

A friend of mine died last year of als. At 34 horrible way to die. Left 3 girls behind and his wife. Horrible way to die

God Bless him and his family, my thoughts and prayers go out to all of them.
