All this talk of a new savior for HC should remind us of the failures of other coaches around the league just this past season. Forget Saban, what about Gibbs, John Fox, Gruden, Cowher, Lewis, Shanahan, etc...? None of them made the playoffs when expctations were that each one would take his team to the playoffs and have a shot at a SB run.

We need the right guy and we need to have patience. We can say Saban sucked all we want - and maybe he did - but the other coaches above had their problems too.

Things just have to fall into place. Hopefully we find another Sean Payton or Mangini to be our next HC, but then again, both those teams could find their way out of the playoffs NEXT year - and then what?

Bottom line for me is OFFENSE. I can't stand the fact that our offense has SUCKED since Marino (and even then with Kippy Brown). I want Daunte and Ricky back with 2 good additions to the OFFENSIVE line and another PLAYMAKER at receiver to go with an OFFENSIVE-MINDED head-coach that will bring us OVERNIGHT results.

With the very same, old defense coming back next year and an improved offense, I for one would be happy next season no matter what. Look at what Payton did with the Saints offense. With the talent we have coming in next year (Daunte and Ricky), there's no reason we can't find the right HC who can maximize our offensive potential - especially if we keep Houck as OL coach and bring in 1-2 studs to help out on the line (left side preferably).

i must agree with you and i am tired of not having a offensive playmaker not getting any pub and we havent had a ppro bowler on offense since the stone ages if my memory is corect.

offense sux'd the last few years Marino was here too.

I don't know if we'll be using our first round pick for it or not, but whoever our GM/HC is needs to find us a STUD LEFT TACKLE. Maybe get 2 of them in the draft. Guys with enough size but plenty of quickness along with it. All those sacks at the beginning of the year were partially because of Daunte and his knee, but a lot of it was because of the offensive line ... the injuries, the position changes, etc. They were tackling Ronnie Brown in the backfield nearly as much as they did Daunte. They got better as the season went on at least.

I think it's high time the Dolphins struck gold on an offensive lineman the way the Chargers did last year with 2nd round pick Marcus McNeill. McNeill has had a hell of a year. He is a Pro Bowl alternate as a rookie. He ended up being better than the guys like d'Brickashaw Ferguson with the Jets. There obviously isn't anything wrong with his back this year like some of the draft gurus said.

A lot of people think that McNeill has been a big part of the reason that LaDainian Tomlinson had such an awesome MVP year. I also hear that their OC Cam Cameron knows what he's doing and he called plays that got the most out of them. We gotta have an OC with a good combination of innovative play calling AND old fashioned street smart common sense. After watching them a few times this year, I'd be surprised if the Chargers weren't in the Super Bowl this year.

The Roman Empire took hundreds of years to build. Lets hope it doesnt take us that long

Jared Gaither from Maryland could solve our LT problem.

I don't know if getting a hardliner, dictatorial head coach would be a good idea either. It sounds like we just had a Nero as emperor of the Dolphins according to what I've been hearing.

I'd like to see a guy with a style like Cowher or Jeff Fisher or, er, Belichick ... somebody like that. They may yell with the best of them, but just about everyone still likes and respects them anyway. Someone in here said that Saban once yelled at an assistant or somebody because they bought the wrong kind of Little Debbie cookies for him. That kind of thing just isn't cool. Someone also said that Saban doesn't like people talking to him when he's in the hallway so he doesn't have to remember people's names. That's not cool either. Jeez. That's probably why they call him "Nicktator".

Weren't these threads started before Saban's first and second years? :tantrum:I'm impatient.

Rome was not built in a day. But competitive football teams can be built in two seasons in todays NFL with the draft and FA.

I am all for building like the 49ers did. Get a young coach, get a QB, don't sign any big time FAs for a year or two. I think this offseason you'll see the 49ers fill in some gaps with some FAs and next year they'll compete for a division championship and who knows what else.

But WH seems to be looking for a coach to be both HC/GM and that isn't going to work whoever the coach is.

All this talk about WH not meddling being a good thing is nonsense. Its your team, damn it, meddle. Or get a GM to meddle for you.

WHs way of doing things obviously is not working. We haven't made the playoffs in forever,,,we haven't made a conf champ game even before that....

Too bad he won't fire himself.

I think its funny when we were 1-3 or 1-4 everyone the great saban, saying how Rome wasnt built in a day. Damn this forums makes me laugh looking back at this season.
