Since everyone seems to be so critical of Ginn becoming a #1 receiever, let's take a look at just how incredibly rare these type of players are...

To be a true #1 receiver in this league you have to possess a ridiculous mixture of speed, power, hands, elusiveness, and route running ability... There are NOT MANY guys like this in the NFL, and most teams don't even have one!!

Here's my order (from best to worst) of real "#1" receivers in this league.. guys you can go to even when they are double covered, or barely even open...

Note that almost every single receiver on this list is 6'2 and up.

Andre Johnson (best in the league, hands down, dominant.)
R.Moss (still unstoppable when he wants to be... getting older)
Calvin Johnson (possesses all the tools)
Fitzgerald
C. Ochocinco
R.Williams
T.Owens (getting older, one of the best of all time)
H. Ward (Does not have the height, but makes up for it in strength)
B.Marshall
A.Boldin (a lot like ward)
S.Smith (panthers, same as boldin and Ward in size... but has the strength to break tackles anyway)
J.Cotchery
D.Driver
M.Colston
T.J Housh
D.Bowe
B.Edwards

That's about IT.... only 17, and 2 pairs of them play on the same team.. also a few at the bottom of the list are only half-proven at this point and may not turn out to be #1s. so half the teams in the league don't even have a real "#1" receiver, they just have groups of receivers who get the job done!

Ted Ginn simply does not have the strength and tackle breaking ability to join that list.... he is however a very very dangerous player with more speed and elusiveness than almost anyone in the league.. he just doesn't fit the "#1" mold.. (not many do)

If we had one of these 16 guys on the other side of Ginn, all of a sudden his numbers would skyrocket because teams wouldn't be so focused in on him... instead we are lining up camarillo and hartline on the other side...

I would take Ginn over Cotchery, Driver, and Housh. But on the flipside, I would take Steve Smith of the Giants over Ginn

Your definately missing some...Lets do this...

Dolphins-None
Patriots-Randy Moss
Bills-TO ??
Jets-Braylon

Steelers-Holmes and Ward
Ravens-D Mason?
Bungles-Ocho
Cleveland-Massicioi??

Tennessee-None
Colts-Reggie Wayne
Houston-Andre Johnson
Jags-Sims-Walker ??

Broncos-B Marshall
Chargers-V Jackson
Oakland-Murphy, Hey-ward Bey??
Chiefs- Bowe

Packers-Jennings and Driver
Vikings-Berrian ??
Bears- None
Lions- Calvin

49ers- Crabtree??
Seahawks-Burleson and Housh
Cards- Fitz and Boldin
Rams-Avery??

Phily- De Jack and Maclin
Giants- Nicks, Steve Smith
Washington- Santana Moss?
Cowboys-Roy Williams, Miles Austin?

Falcons- Roddy White
NO- Colston
Panthers- Steve Smith
Buccs-None

So by my count...Only 4 teams have no clear cut number one reciever or someone on the roster who has even resembled a number 1 reciever. Buccs, Bears, Fins, Titans. And out of those 4 I think the Fins are in the worst situation.

There are and additional 10 teams with young unproven guys, or aging "stars" as there number 1 recievers.

That leaves 18 teams with clear cut number 1 recievers, and some of these teams have two.

People's definition of a #1 wr has become for a lack of a better word.... stupid. You don't have to be a perrinial pro bowler to be a #1 WR for your team.

Ok I forgot to put R.Williams on my list but are you serious with some of those names?? You do know Heyward-bey has like 4 catches on the entire season ?? and avery? Murphy? Sims Walker?!?!???

Desean Jackson as a #1 receiver?? wow Rofl.. Desean Jackson is almost exactly like Ginn........ I think we have a very different meaning of what a true #1 is....

You forget to mention that for some of these teams being the "#1 receiver" means you lead the team in catches with barely over 50... these are not "go to guys" like #1 receivers are supposed to be...

I look at the definition of a true #1 as someone you can rely on every game, every down... not someone who just happens to lead their team in catches rofl...

You can rofl all you want. I said myself some of the names on the list arent the greatest. Simply that some of these younger guys have shown some promise and could develope into #1 recievers (by my definition, not nessesarily yours).

Leaving Reggie Wayne off your list??? ROFL (whatever that means)

Did you see how dynamic D Jack was the other night?? Sorry to tell you he is 1000X better than Ginn.

If your talking about Super Star WRs in the NFL. By my count I would say 15 teams have at least 1. Which means about half the NFL have it figured out, while the Fins are lumped with the rest.

My personal opinion is that Ted Ginn Jr. is an average, inconsistant receiver. He can drive defenders deep with his speed and create space underneath, but he has proven that when opportunities arise in the game where great receivers rise to the occasion and make plays to win the game for their teams, he has failed to do this. That dropped pass against Indy in the end zone was a perfect example. The dropped pass against the Saints when he was wide open in the flat is another example. He lacks the heart of a champion.

If that's your definition of a #1 WR then you need to take a few of those players off your list. Braylon Edwards for example.... in no way shape or form can you count on him every down. You're definition of a #1 WR would be a perrinial pro bowler/top 5 WR in the league.

T.O. is debatable at this point in his career. Everybody else I agree with.

:crazy::lol2:

OK,
You prefer a player that has 18 receptions 211 yards:oops:
over Driver who has 27 receptions and 479 yards

LORD HAVE MERCY
Ginn(2008)56 recp 790 yards 2 tds:oops:
Driver(2008)74 recp 1012 yards 5 tds

Ginn(2007)34 recp 420 yards 2 tds:oops:
Driver(2007)82 recp 1048 yards 2 tds

you might want to add the 8 fumbles that Ginn has :oops:over the past 2.5 seasons versus 1 for Driver

you might want to add GINNS 6 dropped passes :oops:this season versus 0 for Driver

you might want to add that Driver has over his career
604 receptions for 8,468 yards and 46 touchdowns

108 receptions for 1,421 yards and 5 touchdowns for Ginn:oops:

No positive stat this season, the last 2.5 seasons or EVER
has Ginn showed he is a better player than Driver
