who are realistic targets for FA, what holes are best filled prior to the draft (hopefully picking 20-32) and what spots are deeper in this upcoming draft

I like Leary at guard will get good money though

Andre Branch at DE resign and if giants fail to sign JPp he could be a splash player if age discount swap for Mario contract

Dre Kirkpatrick at slot to replace McCain

Olb Collins, chandler jones, okafor

TE resign sims look at Bennett, McDonald or Doyle

Would love to pair Sims with Bennett and Gase knew him in Chicago so you never know

For the first time in a long time ... I'm not going down this road yet.

Feels great to be relevant entering December.

Kirkpatrick can't play slot. His prophile is very similar to Maxwell. I've made the comparison before, but both excel with length and speed relative to their size. Kirkpatrick is more physical, but Maxwell has better ball skills. They lack agility. So, you want them in press and on a line. If you consistently ask them to cover 2-way routes, they'll fail - particularly against smaller, quicker slot WR's.

I'd be open to swapping out Albert with a stud OG, but beyond that, I'm not looking at high-ticket FA's.

The high-end free agents very seldom work out long-term. You pay a premium price for someone that has wear and tear on their bodies. Those two things combined tend to breed complacent tendencies for whatever reasons, survival or just not giving a damn. The Patriots got it right as far as free agency goals. You scout out low-end free agents that can do a job well. In doing that you don't ask them to do things they don't do well therefore you're not setting them up to fail. A.k.a. the FO needs to be smart and in-tuned with the coaching staff.

So I think what you're talking is "special teasers" or specialists. this way you get a job done you don't break the bank and this last part is very important... you rely on the draft for your skilled players.

Too early for specifics, but, from memory, the best bang for the FA buck is OL followed by TE. Not saying FAs at other positions fail, but their cost is often unreasonable.

far 2 early

but we need
- 2guards
- slot corner ( at least)
- linebacker... or 2
- DT
- DE
-Top Tier TE

And I would like a kicker

and that is just the starters

Depth and new additions.

Miami should have a lot of cap, but I'd take care of Stills and maybe Jones without forgetting about Landry.

I'd add Collins as quick as I could say his name and if money is left a upgrade at RG.

Then draft.

Re-sign Andre Branch to start. It'll feel great to have Jones back next year too. Is Rambo signed to a 1 year deal? I'd bring him back.

Moving on from Jason Jones, dude just got suspended, he's had some boneheaded personal foul calls against him and he makes little impact. Plus the Dolphins at some point will have to find out if Dion Jordan can play in the defense and make some kind of contribution.

Branch and Rambo I would re-sign.

Jamie Collins becoming a free agent seems highly unlikely given the cap space the Browns will have. He seems like a likely franchise tag.

I'd like to see us get a look at ILB Zach Brown (Buf).

I'd spend in free agency on a good guard if one is available. If not, that becomes a draft priority maybe in round 2 or 3.

Rebuilding the defense should be the primary focus in the draft. The way Miami is playing the team is probably in a good position to draft a linebacker in round 1 (Foster, Cunningham). If a pass rushing defensive end drops that would obviously be a consideration.

This draft looks to be loaded at tight end, but I think there will be a run maybe at the end of round 1 and into round 2. The Dolphins would be smart to add a tight end in the 2nd.

Corner looks to be less of a need with the way Lippett is progressing. Lippett, Howard and Maxwell could be a nice trio. That said, this is a strength in the draft and you can never have enough corners.

Miami also needs to sign Alonso, Branch and Stills.

So true. Branch is a good example of a player Miami signed that had a lot to prove. He was drafted pretty high (3rd rounder I believe) by Jacksonville, but just hadn't reached his full potential until he got here. Those are the types of players the Dolphins need to continue to sign.

Agree. Love what I've seen from Rambo. The team really needs to take care of their own players with the cap money available. Sign Branch, Alonso, and Rambo to start with. Get a long-term deal done with Landry and take care of Jones in the secondary.

I'd look to add a guard in free agency if possibly and maybe a veteran defensive tackle who is good against the run.
