I for one have a big criticism of Sparano, in not playing Hilliard more at end of year, knowing Brown & Ricky were FA's. The previous season I liked what I saw and he seems to fit the mould of a Peyton Hillis/Mike Tolbert - strong inside runners with good hands.

I can see a situation where DT & Lex split carries, while Bush is used more in the slot, 3rd downs and kick returns. If this is the case could he be our breakout guy this year?

Sorry dude hilliard will never be like hillis. Whateva your drinking i want some.

I was at that carolina game where lex took his first snap and ran for like 16 yards. Ive liked what little ive seen from him dont think he is as good as hillis but you arent really saying that you are just saying maybe they have the same kinda skills

How about playing him more all season not just at the end of the year 1 reception for 3 yards

And ZERO carries last season...0

Maybe Sparano wanted Lex to be well rested

I'm with you on Sparano... It was criminal of him not to play Hilliard at the end of the year.

I think Hilliard can do some good things and deserves a shot..... and to say he'll never be hillis or tolbert, where did they come from ?
Were they always considered featured backs ? Or were they in the exact same boat as Hilliard, with equal talent ?!?!?

Not going to say Hilliard is the next Hillis, but let's not forget that Hillis was nothing before Daboll. He was a 7th round fullback and did nothing in his first two NFL seasons. First season under Daboll he has 1600+ yards, 13 total touchdowns and now graces the cover of Madden. Again, not saying Hilliard is that, but with Daboll now teaching him, can't say for certain he can't achieve the same.

Right now Hillard is our only vet RB that can catch, run, and block decent imo. When he was put in games in the past, I thought he did well. I'm not saying the guy is great, but he's certainly a capable back.

I re-watched every game from the 2009 season when Hilliard got to run the ball more when Ronnie went down, and all he did was gain yardage. To me, it seemed like he didn't get touches last year because the run game was ineffective with the #1 and #2 back, why let the #3 carry the ball? However, that's not a reason to think that he can't, because he showed he most definitely can when given the chance 2 seasons ago.

Hilliard is capable of being a fairly decent back. Hes not really fast but hes a bruiser and he can run, catch and block. Hes worth keeping around in my opinion. I dont think he will ever be a feature back but he can definately help out and contribute.

Hilliard, is a down hill runner who has the power to be a nice thumper/slasher type... depending on how much emphasis they place on the zone blocking scheme, he could be a very good 1 cut and go kinda back...

I really like this guy and do see similarities with him and Daniel Thomas... hope he gets a shot to carry the ball.

so u really think Daboll taught him to be a 1600 yard back. I mean its possible but couldnt the Rb coach be more responsible or maybe he just finally got a chance to play or who knows.
Also u guys should learn math
Hilliard = hillis/tolbert -production geesh lol

Every year there is a breakout player for most teams. As previously stated Hillis & Tolbert were much in the same position as Lex this year. I would compare him more to Tolbert, where he always gains yards, leaving 3rd and short. I like him!
