1st of all, I'd like to keep Lineahan, but he may split for the $$$ & you can't blame him. As for R.Williams, he definitely helped us this year as much as I'd hate to admit it. I guess I'm still sore, but he's here & his heart seems in it. And obviously some other teams who need RB's will still be skeptical, and might not want to give up that much for him.

I'm in the mind set that we need a new quality QB to take us to the next level, and if need be shop RW (+ something else) to help us achieve this.

So I was wondering if there were any teams who were looking for a new Head Coach that also needed a starting RB? A team high enough in the draft where we could possibly reach a quality QB pick, such as Young, Lienart, etc.

Anyone else thought about this? Would we be giving up too much? I mean the Jets got a 4th round pick for Edwards. So even Lineahan alone should get us better then that. Right?

linehan becoming a head coach there is no compensation at all... only if a team wanted him for their offensive coordinator from us would we be compensated, and i dont know if thats ever happened... a team compensating for a coordinator, haha...

Linehan would leave for nothing because he would be getting a promotion to become head coach somewhere else. The Dolphins can't get draft picks if he were to leave to become head coach.

I thought I read on ESPN.com that there were a couple of teams that were looking at him for the Head Job, as well as OC. I'll have to go back & check.

if he becomes a head coach we get nothing... a team can higher any coach from another teams staff with no compensation if that coach is moving up in rank...

so our LB coach can be highered for a defensive coordinator position even if hes under contract with us... just like our offensive coordinator can be hired as a head coach and we would get nothing in return...

I can't see him leaving to be an OC elsewhere unless he feels Saban doesn't want him around. He won't get paid more than he is paid in Miami to be an OC.

thanks for the info. I didn't know that. I got excited when I saw what KC gave for Edwards & thought it was the same thing. However, the pkg of RW & Linehan would still get us a better pick then RW alone, right?

No compensation to the team an assistant coach is hired away from, in the form of draft advancement or picks. Ricky will be in a Dolphin uniform next year. His value in trade is not commensurate with his value being on the team. We will most likely get our next starting quarterback in free agency and groom a later first round draft pick to take the reins in a year or two. That'd be my guess anyhow. And that is all anybody is doing at this time of the year before free agency and the parting of the ways

I'm sure your correct there. And if that's the case I hope he doesn't leave, because I think he definitely helped us out.

Thanks for the contructive criticism. If you read my re-ply post's to the others, I didn't know you didn't get compensated if a coach took a promotion & went to another team.

Nah not bashing you, just have no idea what to make of it whether it would be a deal or not.... I like Linehan and Ricky but if it pulled a 1st or 2nd (which I doubt would happen) Id be down... otherwise, I dont think the team would consider it...
