Not that we have any chance at Lineart, conventionally at least, but here is his rating for the season.

Overall NCAA QB rating is over 158, compared to a 108.5 rating if he did it in the NFL.

and Vince Younds QB rateing would translate to 111.3 if he were in the NFL

Point is?

Yeah whats the point of this thread again? "Translating" Qb ratings from college to NFL is completely pointless. You think any college defense is even half as complex as an NFL defensive scheme?

Unless a QB drops into Mueller's lap...I don't see them using a first round pick on any QB. So the whole point of selecting a QB high is a moot point to me. Don't get me wrong...I'd love to see Young...if he leaves...as a Dolphin, Cutler would be a good choice also...but I've always thought Saban and Mueller wouldn't go above the second round for any QB...for the Dolphins future.

exactly

Of course I want a college QB with great stats but there are other things to look at

and truthfully his first few years

a 158 college rateing will translate to about between a 75-85 rateing, because the NFL is more complex

Did I say there was a point? His final #s are just out and I only compared them since he's the likely 1st QB to be taken.

So what about Young? Doesn't matter now cuz he's staying at Texas anyway.

How could it be "another thread again" when the final #s are just out?
Why is it completely pointless? No kidding NFL Ds are more complex. It is only a way To get an idea of some kind of comparison if he had those same #s in the NFL. So, from what you're saying, then Lineart won't make it it the NFL? If he can only put up these #s against "paltry" college Ds then what can be expected in the NFL then?

Nope he's comeing out

His family has said there is almost a great chance he declares for the draft

Its no comparison at all

Shaun King is the all time NCAA passer efficency leader

and

Timmy Chang is the all time passing yardage leader

You dont look at stats in college QB's you look at the way they play the game

probably, for the first year at least. Look at Peyton's sr yr at Tenn. He had a 147.7/101 rating [NCAA/NFL], less than Lineart's. It's no guarantee that Linehart will make it at all. Look no further than Ryan Leaf!

A big thing to look at is leadership potential. Peyton was poised at Tenn as Lineart appears to be. Leaf???? So, yeah, you're right. It does take more than an exceptional athlete to suceed in the NFL.

This says different!

Since midseason, Young has maintained that he plans to return for a senior season, even if his family could use the riches of an NFL contract.

"It's my decision and right now my decision is to come back to school," he said before Texas beat Colorado for the Big 12 title.

Shaun King is the all time NCAA passer efficency leader

I thought Chad Pennington had that honor.

true, you have to look at how they play.
The only way you can even use the stats is by the end #, which is the rating which takes it all in together. One can't make an evaluation by breaking down the stats and using just one of them. For instance, you used Chang. He may be the yardage leader but could suck every where else, say, worse in INTs, or actual completions, for example, but yet still have the most yds by maybe having fleety WRs who put up a bunch of RACs, say.
