With Pro Bowl linebacker Joey Porter not participating in team drills all week because of a strained hamstring, backup Charlie Anderson is hoping to reprise two of his best games last season -- both in victories over the Bills, Sunday's opponent.

Anderson had a tackle for a safety in the early-season 25-16 win over Buffalo, and then recorded a 15-yard sack of J.P. Losman as well as forcing two fumbles in the 16-3 win in Toronto.

"That was probably my best game," said Anderson, who has started six games in six seasons. "Playing in Canada, it was a different atmosphere. It was time for me to do something.

"I'm trying to fill [Porter's] shoes and hopefully step in and be the best backup I could be."

Wow you mean the all time great Cameron Wake will not just slide in as a starter.

actually i read somewhere that J.T. will slide to Joeys spot and put Wake in J.T.s old spot.

That would be the first I heard of that. I doubt Wake starts. He barely has been active one game but Im not opposed to seeing him play.

my mistake... that was just practice... i just double checked.. heres the clip

"Though Charlie Anderson split game reps with Porter last week, Kelly reports that, in Thursday's practice, Jason Taylor moved to Porter's spot on the right side of the defense, and Cameron Wake took Taylor's place on the left side."

Maybe they will do that some this week. I wish we had used our second round pick on OLB depth but oh well.

well lets be patient... a couple more drafts and the job should be complete...my prediction is we draft more Safetys and LB next year and we sign 1 top wr free agent.

BTW im just moved out of the Tampa area... i miss it!!!! of all places im back in NY! lol

We shall see. Teams dont have forever to add pieces since teams lose players all the time

In the last game, Anderson and Wake were splitting time when porter went out. I expect to see both of them during the game this week too.

Damn the real dissapointment if they were splitting time is neither got a tackle, hurried a qb or anything. I dont think either would be good as a long term starter although Im sure Anderson would be the first choice.

we should switch to 4-3 on 3rd and long with JT at RDE and Wake at LDE

Would still rather have Starks or Merling opposite Taylor although I think Wake could play a better 4-3 De than 3-4 linbacker

Agreed, wouldn't one of C.Sintim, C.Barwin, P.Kruger, C.Brown, M.Johnson,M.Shaughnessy or T.McKenzie help us out a heck of alot more then P.Wihte. Personally I really wanted 1.M.Johnson 2. C.Barwin 3. P.Kruger, I look at this as the same as passing on Willis for Ginn when our Z.Thomas was clearly on the down slide. Now it's JP and JT that are on the down slide and there's no real replacements outside a C.Wake project.
