I know i may get **** for this being an "offseason thread" but it is currently hurting us so it is somewhat appropriate, please dont chew me out, just dont reply if you dont like it.

Which area is hurting us and holding us back more? where should we focus in the offseason?

Ik that everyone wants a flashy WR but if you had to choose one, which area is in need of a bigger upgrade?
Pretty Crazy that we could end up having a LB crew of
Jerry Hughes (1st), Brandon Spikes (2nd) Karlos Dansby (FA) Cameron Wake (Monster)

Id trade up in the 2nd for spikes or maybe he falls due to him having a somewhat down season (due mainly to a groin injury, which imo with proper conditioning and rest should be a non issue moving forward) and missing a game due to the eye gouging etc.

Or a WR/TE group of:
Damien Williams (1st), Antonio Bryant (FA), Bess/Hartline (Current) with Aaron Hernandez (4th) and Tony Scheffler (FA)

Problem is with no CBA, Sheffler will cost us a draft pick to get as a RFA. If we are going to use a #1 on a WR it better not be Williams who IMO won't be a #1 reciever.

well i think we will be picking around 20 give or take and doubt dez will be there.. i believe williams is the most polished WR with great hands/routes/average to above average speed and good football IQ.. idk who do u like better? and nvm with sheffler, i wouldnt touch Schefler with a 10 foot pole is it was a high draft pick..

IF we were going to use a #1 on a WR it would to me have to be either Benn or Tate....

Personally I'm hoping either VJ or Marshall dont get a contract and become RFA's....I'll give up the 1st and 3rd for either one of them in a heartbeat rather than gamble on a WR in the draft.

Out of the two id rather VJ, taller, less or a primadona, better example and seems like a good and loyal team player
Then we can sign Antonio Bryant, Karlos Dansby and draft Brandon Spikes :hump: also i see us somehow getting another second through a trade... Parcells has had 2 2nds to play with every year and is 3 of 4..

The only guy we have that could next us a 2nd IMO is Ronnie....he will be an RFA, so it's doable, but we will then need to draft a rb.

I'd rather we switch back to a 4-3 D, using as much of the personal we have, draft a RB with our No.1, and get rid of the Ginn family, Porter & JT.

Linebackers are the biggest need.

WR's
By seasons end we should have a total of over 3,200 passing yards. The WR's are young and developing and "should" be better next year. In addition to that, if Ronnie doesnt go down its probably he is over 11/1200 yards and Ricky is at about 800. So from a unit standpoint the offense is looking good considering the youth across the board.

LB's
OLB - Age is a problem here with Taylor and Porter. Porter's production was way down and Taylor finds himself in an unusual role. Roth, a stud run stuff was released which leaves us with Wake, someone with huge upside in pass rush but has questionable run stuffing skills. Charlie Anderson does flash when in on the passing game but again, questionable in the run game. And Moses..?? well we just dont know.

ILB's - Crowder has cronic knee injuries and his production is considerably way down. Ayodele, although he flashes at times is probably more suited to a back up role.

Productivity from our starting ILB's is shocking, through 14 games of the season combined, they total 91.. NINETY ONE tackles... this to me is where our weakness is. In addition to that they have been questioned on their coverage abilities.

Torbor is serviceable and could prove to be a capable starter in time. So this is a big need.

In the 34 defense, its all about the LB's and quite frankly, ours are not good enough. Its the one area this regime hasnt really tackled yet through the draft so its my belief they will this year with Hughes-TCU in the 1st round and Eric Norwood-So.Carolina whom they move inside in the 2nd. I would not be surprised if another pick between 4th and 6th round is devoted to LB.

I think if Hartline continues to produce in the fashion he has done over these next 2 weeks, and commits to developing physically in the offseason... another 16 pounds puts him at 200lbs and at 6'2" would be a nice size considering how physical he already plays.

If not, then we risk the need for 2 new WR's a no1 and a no2 in Free Agency/Draft which will reduce the draft process to focus on LB's which needs an injection of youth and playmaking ability.

I would be very happy to go all defence this year. Lb,lb,lb we need them and this is a great draft class for them also need another fs. People complain about what the d line does but the are there to take up bodies the linebackers make the plays so we need a big upgrade at lb!!

I think this scenario will play out actually. In my opinion I think Parcells will offer him up and I am sure someone will take him. Then we will draft a later round running back. We will use Williams as the starter, throw some Hilliard in and hopefully Parcells will draft a Barber type player, or maybe Kory Sheets will develop. We will also have Cobbs back next year as well.

Personally I think our receivers are fine, we just need one more guy. Our LB's have to be overhauled in a big way. Yeah, our OLB's are experienced and for the most part, know what they're doing. But hell, I would KILL to see us with one of those young OLB's that just plays with an intense fire and motor every down, and disrupts running and passing plays. Every 3-4 team seems to have one of these but us.

Although we do need a WR/TE, we have been able to score enough points in games to give us a win. Teams seem to be able to score at will on our D, so I see us investing a lot of time in research/drafting/trading for defensive players, especiallt at LB and S.

I have to say it drives me a little insane when I see so many guys who have to apologize for beginning a thread or are in fear of getting flamed for a topic they want to talk about... Geez man... Have we become total cannibals here at FH???

Man we are all supposed to be Fin Fans... I'm seeing alot of threads beginning this way...

Sorry to be off topic... I just think you should not have to worry in the slightest when starting a thread about something you want to discuss with fellow fans.

Any thread should not require a disclaimer.

Well said Zounds...
