On his impressions of RB Frank Gore: “I was at Miami when Frank was coming out and we thought pretty highly of him, but we ended up drafting (Dolphins RB) Ronnie Brown with the second pick. He was down there and we worked him out individually. You could see he was going to have the potential to be what he is now. He certainly would have been a high, high round pick if he hadn’t had those injuries coming out. He’s proving to everybody that they should have taken the chance with the way he’s playing now for the Niners.â€Â

If the Dolphins had passed on Ronnie Brown, would they have taken Frank in the second round?: “I don’t know. You would have to ask (Dolphins Coach) Nick Saban that one. He was rated right up there. We had him very high. You know how you always look for what’s wrong with a player and his injury background was one of those red flags, but that’s neither here nor there now. It doesn’t matter what round you get drafted in; it just matters how you play once you get there. He’s playing as good as anyone.â€Â

Interesting.

Would you rather have Brown/Roth or Edwards/Gore?

You really can't go wrong with either set of players. Both sets of players are making plays for their teams. I kind of like what we have because we have youth on both sides of the ball instead of just the offensive side. It's just my opinion though.

Ronnie is a beast, and Roth is developing really well.

Oh yeah, Edwards dropped the game winning TD in the last game:tongue:

I like that we got quality future starters on both sides of the ball.

Gore has had a couple monster games that have padded his stats from what I understand..I don' really pay attention to him too much. I also don't think Edwards is all that great. Not consistent enough. I could very well be wrong though.

who are you? this isn't fantasy football.

I'd go with Gore/Edwards, Gore and Brown offset each other..

how good would we be if we went meriman then maroney ?and colston...but woulda coulda shoulda

Frank Gore is a better back then Ronnie Brown. Frank Gore looks faster, and those hands that Ronnie Brown was said to have, well he has good hands, but I've seen Gore make some one handed catches to bail out his QB. The 49'ers are 5-5, and Gore has a lot to do with that. In hindsight, who would you have drafted if not for Ronnie Brown. Edwards is a bust in my opinion (50 million, and playing like he is = bust) and if anyone says Merriman, there was a reason he slipped to number 11 I believe. Gore was picked 2 ahead of Channing Crowder I believe, so hey, that was a good start to the third round.

If the team didn't pick up Ronnie they would have taken Edwards there. So the question becomes would you rather have Brown/Roth or Edwards/Gore because San Fran picked higher then the phins in round 3 so they would have had to have spent their 2nd rounder on him.

Another knock on Gore, besides the injuries, was the fact that he has some pretty severe learning disabilities. They most likely simplify the offense for Gore to some extent in San Fran.
