It's long but interesting none the less....who is to say he can't do this here??? I realize we don't have Moss or Culpepper, but we have yet to see Feeley in this kind of offense and Minny didnt have Brown or McMichael.....

Linehan directed a Viking offense that led the league in several categories and produced several team records in 2002. The Vikings rushed for a team record 2,507 yards on the season, breaking the previous mark of 2,279 set in 1965, and also set a team record with 26 rushing TDs. Under Linehan's guidance the team finished second in the NFL in total yards per game (387.0) and led the league in rushing yards (2,507), rushing yards per game (156.7), and rushing yards per attempt (5.3). Minnesota also set a new team record for first downs in a season with 350, topping the old mark of 343 set in 1981. In Linehan's first year in the NFL, several Vikings set individual marks. Second-year RB Michael Bennett ran for 1,296 yards, which was the 2nd-best single season performance in team history, and was named to his first Pro Bowl. Moss led the NFC with a career-high 106 catches for 1,347 yards and became the first player in NFL history to top the 1,000-yard receiving mark in each of his first five seasons. Moss was also named to his fourth Pro Bowl. Culpepper set team records for rushing yards by a quarterback with 609, breaking his own mark of 470 in 2000, and rushing TDs by a QB with 10, breaking his mark of 7 in 2000. RB Moe Williams set a new Vikings' record by rushing for a TD in 7 consecutive games, breaking Bill Brown's record of 6 set in 1968. Williams' 11 TDs on the season moved him into a tie for 3rd in Vikings' single-season history, matching Brown's total in 1968 and trailing the 13 that Chuck Foreman scored in 1975 and 1976 and Terry Allen totaled in 1993.

Although 2002 marked Linehan's first season coaching in the NFL, he had experience working with NFL-caliber quarterbacks before coming to Minnesota. Five of his proteges, Louisville's Chris Redman and Dave Ragone, Washington's Brock Huard and Marques Tuiasosopo, and Idaho's Doug Nussmeier, went on to be drafted by NFL teams.

Sure........

Like you said, this team does not have Daunte', or Moss, so I would not expect them to be as productive. Especially when Miami's Qb's are not so fleet footed, like Culpepper.

I would think that as a team, if they can rush for 1700 - 1800 yards, and pass for 3000, there would be no reason why this team would not be contended for at least a playoff spot, or at the very least, some new found respect among the league.

btw, it's nice to see you stick to your words and get behind the Brown pick.

I would have absolutely done the same if Benson, or Caddy were choosen...

Thanks, hopefully it can happen here, but Moss is one heck of a receiver who stretches D's to allow all that to happen..hope Cris and Marty can take advantage, but I'd love for Boston to come back and really stretch the field.

It's crazy to me that they had almost 2600 yards rushing. I mean imagine if we can do that and Feeley can just be a decent QB and get 3,000 and keep his Int's down. The thing with Minny is they never had a decent defense, our defense could easily be top10, possibly top 5 based on Saban performance as a 1st year head coach. I excited man we have all this potential and in my opinion NE is on the slid very fast. NY is the strongest team in the East as of now, IMHO, and the only reason for that is that we are unproven. This is gonna be a great year for us fans, and also a great era for us all.

Oh yea man, I argued with you Brown fan's more than anyone on here. I also said I thought he would be a good back, I thought Caddy would be better rushing the ball, but screw that Saban thought Brown would be better and Saban knows more than me, so I am there to back him. Brown 05'!!!

PS: even if it were a QB, which I didnt want at all at #2, I would be on the bandwagon with ya'll!!

Good stats...seems like you did you homework on this one, I agree like ozzy said we dont have daunte culpepper but i dont think ronnie is gonna get 1800 yards like he was saying he might get...maybe 1,300 at most for him...Saban is not gonna run this kid to death but expect him to have lots and lots of catches like 50-60 in his first season

The thing is though Linehan basically took over and ran the same offense they had been running since Denny Green was head coach, if I'm not mistaken. He brings that offense to Miami now, and I have no problem with that.

Our talent on O isnt near Minnesota's but I'd be astounded if we dont have major improvements in passing and especially rushing. Not keeping my hopes to high on lowering the turnovers, however. That is 100% up to the players, esp Mr. Feeley.

Actually, I don't want Brown to get 1800 at all. I would expect around 1250 from Brown, 150 - 250 from the Qb's, and 225 - 300 from the backup Rb's, mixed in with revereses to Wr's, and or any other type of run.

As a team, 1800 rushing yards is a very good measure of reaching playoff status, as long as the team can also pass....

Like I said, Feeley isnt Culpepper, and Chambers isnt Moss. Yet Booker, McMichael, and Brown are better than their #2 Wr, TE, and any one of their RB's. And Minny has always had monster Oline's, but with the addition to Houck, we could have a steller Oline. On top of all that Chambers has probably more potential than any other #1 wideout in the NFL. The only question is how Feeley produces, which I know won't be at Culpeppers level, but it should be good. I honestly think Culpepper was a little but of a product of Moss and Linehan, and think his numbers will drop far, but Feeley still wont have his skills (and I'm UCF biased:D ). It should be interesting none the less.

linehan has a system where offensive players can excel and produce - there is no telling who might become an all-pro stud before the year is over

Ozzy gets it. :D

Thanks, and If Brown is as good as most of us think, the O-line will automatically improve (something you always stress). Add in Houck, and it could be much improved. :D
