Lions After Speilman Again

An NFL source with extensive knowledge of front-office maneuverings said that Dolphins vice president of football operations Rick Spielman will be considered for a front office position with Detroit if Lions President Matt Millen is forced to resign or is fired.

This is the third time in as many years that the Lions have tried to get Speilman back. He started there and has ties. It's not out of the question that he would bolt. But we really need him aboard when the regime changes.

if our next coach wants total control Speilman w/b gone anyway... I am not sure how Wayne runs this shop, but Wanne does not report to Speilman AFAIK so unless Speilman gets promoted so that he picks the next HC, I do not expect him back in 2004
