I agree. Marinelli isn't that bad a coach. He was just stuck with a clueless FO who gave him no talent to work with. Of course, the Coach always gets ****ed in those situations though. I don't think Mangini is that bad a coach either.It had to be done because you just can't retain someone who goes 0-16 in todays day and age. What would that say to your fan base?
However i believe Marinelli is a good coach, and i admire that he had the Lions playing HARD all season long despite their situation. They did not lay down easily to go winless, they played many tough games which displayed their lack of talent at certain positions (especially defense). It would have been easy for them to just quit and lose every game by 40 points, but they didn't.
Marinelli got the short end of the stick because his front office and team management had no clue how to build a football organization and left him holding the ball.
