That's just cynicism that comes with maturity.
The difference between the fantasy of what's "possible", and the realism of what's probable.

Out of curiosity, do you see other situations in life differently as well?

Oh yes I do. The past 3 years I've seen things entirely different. I dunno how much was maturity by age or mindset change after my youngest child passed away. Hard to differentiate the two.
