Little Update On Shockey

It dont matter to me one way or the other. I wish we would have looked at drafting Jimmy Graham last year though IMO.

I wonder if people watch any other games that arent dolphin games.

He hasn't been a game changer in years, and all this upgrade talk has no statistical evidence to back it up.

Once again when somebody recognizes a name, all the sudden we should sign him right away, hes the answer to our problems....

if an injury proned unproductive tight end is the answer to our problems, i must be missing something.

the only redeeming quality the Jeremy Shockey has is one badass tattoo. thats it

after seeing the bills bring in david martin i wouldn't be surprised if they went after ole' shockey themselves

You might say he was SHOCKingly unproductive.

At first I automatically don't love this idea of having Shockey here because it would be so nice to get a young stud TE in here.

But if he doesn't cost an arm and a leg can we really hate on this?

My only defense for him is that in the system that the Saints run, where Brees would throw it to anyone, even himself if he was open, you have to cut him some slack for not having stats that jump out on you. He ranked 4th on their team in receptions even while only having 13 games, starting 11 in the regular season. He had 41 receptions (408 yards) while Meachem sat right above him with 44 receptions on the year. I'm not one to hold much to stats but it's not like he was terrible.

To look at it from Fasano's side, he had 15 games this season 39 catches for 528 yards. So their stats look very similar.

In the end I wouldn't be all that excited if we signed him. Id rather take my chances on another ex-Giant named Plaxico....

I didn't want much on the saints, I live in NJ though so I watched him week in and out on the Giants. I also watched him light us up when we played the saints in 09. I think the people here just want to be able to address QB, RB, OL, WR, and maybe defense ( a long list ), so i can understand wanting to check-off your #2 TE problem with a veteran like shockey for a year or two. he adds a little more dynamic then the guys we have had like:

1. Kory Sperry (was supposed to be a speed catching TE)

2. Joey Haynos (6'8 our redzone target)

3. Mickey Schuler (good lineage, combine freak, poached from vikings, primarily a blocker at Penn State)

4. Jeron Mastrud (UDFA, all time leading receiving TE at kansas state)

5. Dedrick Epps (Poached from chargers, former hurricane, physical specimen)

Personally, I'm not really sold on Shockey. His attitude and combination with Plaxico was aweful. I mean he pretty much got pushed out of NY. But at the same time, I really understand wanting to just check that TE position off with a solid do-it-all-well-but-not-great Fasano and a veteran and still good receiver but injury prone bad attitude Shockey... maybe
