I have no clue where they got that 40 time from cuz I had a media pass covering his pro day and he did not run a 4.8. he ran a 4-3 wind-aided I think he ran twice what the other time maybe being in 4.5 range maybe a 4.6 at worst

Pretty sure those high and low times are just estimates of the range they thought he would run.

Had no idea you were in the sports writing biz. You do it full time?

ran a 4.67 at his pro day keep expectations low
Your not a lockdown with a 4.67.

However, some guys aren’t trained well in track running and the 40 time can be off versus football speed.

If he timed at 4.67 he is no better than a 4.5 guy....which is not NFL corner speed anymore.

Just interned for espn El Paso and writing for prospector, the UTEP paper. I'm the new sports editor. I have also covered El Paso Chihuahas and some High School sports. Kind of just getting started but it gives me experience and access. Had been accepted to University of Texas at Austin but the chance to be editor and learn more web based content and actually control it. I have also been doing sports photography, and will do a video internship this summer.
So wouldn't say I am in the biz but I am working my way into it. I actually have made some good contacts and have been given great access so far.

One thing about Needham is teams did their best to avoid him, playing for such a bad team you did not see him getting beat very often. More a zone corner but this guy is not slow. Those numbers from the one site were made up numbers because neither of those times were from his pro day maybe an estimate like sclu said but an estimate that shows they didn't really scout him.
I am not a scout but I guarantee he doesn't run a damn 4.8 lol

Went back to my notes and two forties were ran. The setup was bad at first because it was against the wind which was really bad that day. He is in no way a 4.8 guy nor a 4.3 guy. He is a consistent 4.5 speed guy. I ran 6 miles in that wind that very same night and can assure you nobody is running a 4.3 into a 25 to 30 mph wind. In fact wind aid compared to wind resistance hits at about a 1 to 2 factor. So fighting the wind impacts u twice as much as running with it.

40 times aside, seems like a guy to keep an eye on.

I feel those numbers are overrated to a degree.

Some play faster than their 40 time, others slower than their 40 time, and lastly some who play as expected to their 40 time.

A guy can legit run a 4.2 and still get burnt in the NFL if his reaction time rivals a potato.

Damn dude, temper your expectations a bit. He has some talent, but 32 teams in a pass-happy league didn’t let a CB slip through the cracks. Here’s to hoping he develops.

All I can add, not having any personal insight, is that a 40 time, while a standard metric, does not always equate to "football speed".

4.3 vs 4.7 is a world of difference in an NFL CB though.

Good for you bro.

As a seasoned guy, my advice is hold on to your dreams. At least until a pretty face gets hold of you.....lol.
