Talk about it in The Round Table

Rutgers' pro day was a relatively smooth one for former Scarlet Knight Logan Ryan. The cornerback could very well be Rutgers' highest draft pick of this current class and yesterday served as one more opportunity for some face-to-face time with NFL scouts.

Having performed well at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine a few weeks ago, Ryan only came out and participated in positional drills yesterday in Piscataway.

Ryan projects as a first to second round pick
"I think I did my job. I came out here and did my drills, I stayed on my numbers from the combine," Ryan said. "I'm happy with that. The drills were short but I gave great effort and great energy.

"I felt like I ran what I needed to run [at the combine], I'm a football player. It takes a lot. I give these guys credit for what they went through in one day. It takes a lot on your body, I've been doing it the last two months. I'm focusing on being a better football player and trying to make an impact as a rookie and get drafted high."

Ryan also appeared a bit bigger than he was during the season after training for a couple of months at Fischer Sports in Phoenix, Ariz.

"In Arizona, I got up to 196 [pounds], Ryan said. "Right now I weighed in at 192.5 today. I have put on some size and I'd like to carry it. It feels good."

While out in Phoenix, Ryan was able to train alongside New York Jets superstar cornerback Darrelle Revis.

"That was the greatest thing I ever decided to do, to go out there," Ryan said. "You know, you hear a lot about a guy, you hear a lot of the great ones and what they do. But what to really see him do, rehabbing his knee and all the stuff with the media going on, he's still focused and the way he works every single day. A lot of pro guys train there, and I'm not going to say any names, but a lot of guys come in two or three times a week. He's there five to seven times a week. It's obvious why he's great and that's what I learned firsthand."

Ryan had ties to Revis even before he started training out in Arizona.

"My agent also represents Darelle, so I wanted to follow in his footsteps in a sense and to go out and go what he went through," Ryan said.

Ryan has also taken some helpful hints from people closer to home.

"I'm great friends with Mo [Sanu] and last year his draft process was up and down. I'm working out with him sometimes, we share the same trainer," Ryan explained. "He just tells me to stay away from it all. Nothing matters but what teams have you on their boards. I'm hearing positive and negative things but it's all motivation to me."

Through Ryan's many dealings with NFL scouts during this entire process, the feedback seems to have been nothing but positive thus far.

"It's been great. I'm extremely blessed to go to a school like Rutgers. Everything I've heard is 'I've heard your hard working, heard you're a smart guy and you're disciplined. We love Rutgers guys.' And that's a shout out to the school and the players and the community because it really is true. You don't know until you go through it, but I think Rutgers guys have a great reputation."

he was slow at the combine...very slow...if he didn't run at his pro day he didn't help himself...i don't see how he gets in the first 2 rounds running as slow as he did

Does anybody know if the Dolphins had scouts on Rutgers pro day?
What position coaches?

ok I'll bite.....HOW SLOW WAS HE?

Joe Haden was much better in coverage.... had better feet and hips. Much better tackler. Significantly better in man coverage.... locked down Julio in the '09 SEC title game, although Florida got run out of the stadium that day.

Logan Ryan couldn't cover Cobi Hamilton. Let him set an SEC record for receiving yards in a single game (303 yards) and looked terrible doing it. I thought he should've stayed in school another year. Surprised he came out.

i'm with slimm...logan should have stayed in school...and yeah haden was slow at the combine but he ranlow 4.4's at his pro day...ryan not running at his pro day is another red flag

pass...

Scouts from all 32 teams were there where linebacker Khaseem Greene was the star of the show.
