Logical Draft Options

1) Levi Brown T Penn State

- I know it's kind of early to assume but I honestly think that Levi will be a better pro than the coveted Joe Thomas out of Wisconsin. Brown has longer arms and a mean streak that could make him an elite left tackle in the NFL. The Dolphins couldn't go wrong with this pick because it addresses the biggest need the team has had in the last decade.

2) Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame

-The Dolphins haven't had success at this position since Dan Marino retired. Quinn was a consensus number one overall selection for the whole NFL season and if he fell to us he would be an absolute steal. His knock is that he doesn't play well in big games but the fact is that schools like LSU and Ohio State have much more overall talent than the Irish. Quinn will be a phenomenal pro quarterback.

3) Ted Ginn Jr. WR Ohio State

The ultimate X-Factor who could give our team a spark it hasn't had in a long time. He is a dangerous offensive weapon and the most electrifying special teams player I have ever witnessed. We are looking for speed at receiver and this guy has more speed than anyone in this draft.

4) Alan Branch DT Michigan

We have a plethora of youth here that includes Manny Wright, Kevin Vickerson, Fred Evans and ROdrique Wright but losing Vonnie Holliday, Keith Traylor, and Jeff Zgonia to free agency hurts bigtime. Branch is a monster with a mean streak that will develop into the best defensive tackle in the game. I have very high hopes for Rod Wright and think he will develop into the first rounder he was once projected but Brnach is a monster.

5) Amobi Okoye DT Louisville

Pretty much the same summary as Branch except Okoye is very young.

6) Laron Landry S LSU

This guy is awesome. He has the all the skills to be an elite defensive back in the league. Teaming him with first rounder last year Jason Allen will gives us a great core of safetys.

Brown is a possibility...but how many possible LT's do we have on the team already?

Unless the Dolphins cut, trade Culpepper....forget about Quinn.

Ginn has great speed...but may be too fragile...and I could see a WR like Meachem in the 2nd round a better choice.

The Dolphins would be better off to acquire a DT....and Okoye would be a smart pick....he has the most upside and is young....he could be a player that the Dolphins could have for 10-12 years playing in the middle of the defense.

All are good choices except Ginn. He's really not the greatest WR, and while he may very well be a great return man, I don't think any team will spend a high 1st rounder on a guy like that. I'm not up on my draft history, but I can't remember anyone ever drafting for STs in the first round.

Oh, wait til the combine rolls around. Ted Ginn is on the Ohio State Track team as a sprinter (Shocking right) and he's not only been working towards that, he's also been working towards the combine. Don't be surprised if Ginn runs around the same 40 time as Calvin Johnson.

If ginn runs under a 4.4, which i think he will, his draft stock is gonna rise even higher. I don't personally want him here, but i wouldn't be too upset about it either.

Being a west coast guy... I want to have Dwayne Jarrett as one of the possibilities. He is every bit as talented as Ginn when healthy. I think ultimately though, the decision to rebuild the o-line will have the most longterm benefits. BTW... the ST player to be selected in the 1st round was S. Janikowski of the Raiders in 2000 if I'm not mistaken.

I'm not sold on drafting Okoye so high. If you're selecting a defensive tackle at #9, he had better be the next Warren Sapp.

I really would be ok with any of those picks, but if I had to pick the one that would make me the most uncomfortable, it would be Ted Ginn Jr. Yes, he is about as electrifying as they come, but the lack of size, hands and polish would worry me a bit. I think Jarrett is a better receiver, but he lacks the top end speed. He is a playmaker, though, and we have seen many receivers come into the draft before with big knocks against them for their speed only to have fantastic careers.

Drafting Brady Quinn and keeping DC are not mutually exclusive. I don't agree with your assumption that DC would need to be traded. Very rarely is a rookie QB ready to start, especially when there is a viable veteran option.

CJ is the only WR in this draft worth a top 10 pick. Jarrett and Ginn have too many blemishes to even be taken in the top 20.

He's not working towards the Combine at all because he's not working out in Indy. He's recovering from the foot injury sustained in the BCS Title Game. He will probably work out 10 days later in Columbus or possibly a little later at a specially arranged workout.

Hey Boomer, good to see you back around the site lately. I was wondering if you heard anything about Miami moving up to the 3 or 4 slot? And why has Carriker made such a jump as of late?
