So apparently we are looking into taking Jake Long or Vernon Gholston with the 1st pick? Does this mean that Chris Long is now out of the picture? Does anyone know the reasoning behind the sudden emergence of Gholston over Chris?

Actually No. We're looking at Jake Long at #1.

The times are a-changing. We've added Gholston to the list now as well.

We're not done yet - I'd expect a list of both Longs, Gholston, and Dorsey to emerge prior to the draft.

Me personally, want Chris Long, he's the way to go, but if he is not our first pick, I will be happy with Jake Long, regardless who we pick, they will definitly be a huge help to the team, we cant lose. But you cant go by what you hear, no one officially knows who the Dolphins are going to pick, all rumors until DRAFT DAY.

I imagine we will be talking contract with more players by next week. It's a bargainning tool between the agents and teams. The drop off in $millions from say, a #1 and a#4 is about $11 million guaranteed, per example fron last year.

Its a negotiation. They will start with the guys they don't want as much to acquire the numbers and the information to then use against the guy they do want as leverage. I expect the guy we hear about last to be the guy they really want. As a result, these two are, in my opinion, simply being played for the betterment of the Dolphins.

that's just one way of doing it - the shady way. they could just as well be going in there with intentions of signing jake first and you know it.
