Long TD passes in training camp?

Agreed, but the last few training camps (AT LEAST) we've had complete dildos for QBs.

This is Penny's first full TC - last year he was just trying to learn the offense.

That could be a double-edged sword. While I like what that could portend for our passing game, it could also mean an ominous beginning for our revamped secondary. But then again this is only training camp.

The line is as solid as it's been in a very long time. There have been occasional bursts of pressure, but plenty of big plays as well. If the run blocking is as good as it supposed to be, I'm looking forward to an exciting and hopefully successful football season.

During Tony Sporano's clip on the official site, he was talking about how Pennington improved his fundamentals and his physical attributes and added some pop to his passes. I'm not going to put too much weight into that, because I've heard the same was said about him in the past, but I hope it's true.

Arm strength and health are the only things keeping Pennington from being at the level of Manning and Brady. His arm strength obviously won't improve enough to put him realistically in the conversation, but if he can move in that direction, it'd be huge. It'd also mean a much bigger year for Ginn.

It's a great time for information for fans but I think we get too much info when we start breaking down TC practices. This is not a dolophin fan thing but a football fan thing. On our board I read how good or bad particular players were in camp and people get excited or disappointed by it and in reality these practices aren't telling us much. Let's at least wait until we see guys playing in preseason games and even then there's not a ton we can take out of it.

Chad's arm usually has more zip in camp and early in the year and as the year goes on he loses a bit off the fastball.

I agree w/ your 2nd paragraph. If Chad had a big arm and was durable he'd be right there w/ Tom Brady as the best in the game and we'd probably have a SB or 2 this decade while you guys would be hating him.

Chad can be an effective deep passer because he has touch and accuracy, even deep. His lack of arm strength means that he has to take certain care when throwing deep but for every game but the Ravens game (where, to be fair, the offensive line was non-existent) Chad took that care.

When I saw the title of this thread I was hoping it meant that Jake Long threw a couple TD's in practice today...

I think it just has more to do with certain drills they're running. I would assume that there would be more td's in a 7-v-7 drill.

Yeah, that's why I feel little else than a bit of hope. I'm fine with him as he is, for now, though.

But, I've actually always liked Pennington - liked him coming out of Marshall. He's kind of like the Zach Thomas of QB's. Certain physical deficiencies keep him from being top tier, but his understanding of the game allows him to be a top-end 2nd-tier player.

Sorry, but Zach was top tier without a doubt IMO.

the only deficiencies zach had is that he kept giving himself concussions during each game. that boy can tackle.
