at Phil Steele's 2005 College Football Preview and here is where they ranked some players we got at bargin prices.

Jason Allen: ranked #2 of all college CB's, we got him at 16 of the 06 draft.

Rodrique Wright: ranked #1 of all college DT's, we got him in the middle of the 7th round of the 06 draft.

Derek Hagan: ranked #3 of all college WR's, we got him in the middle of the 3rd round of the 06 draft.

Gerald Riggs Jr.: ranked #5 of all college RB's, we got him as an UDRFA.

Justin Holland: ranked #44 of all college QB's, we got him as an UDRFA.

Marcus Vick: ranked #37 of all college QB's, we got him as an UDRFA.

And to think, DW couldn't figure out the difference between Anquan Boldin and Eddie Moore.
Anyways I love going back and reading my old preview mags to see where we were just a year ago, and because they cost a fortune...so I squeeze evey penny of woth out of them . I found it interesting that several of the players we got this year were highly touted just one year ago and now we have them for a song. Someone in Miami is doing their homework.

wow thats pretty interesting, great find. Also makes you wonder how Rod. Wright went from being #1 ranked DT to a 7th rounder.

If I had a guess, I'd say the torn Cuff had something to do with the dropoff.
 
Wright and Hagan were deff huge picks, deff sleepers
 
Good post...it's nice to see that Saban is doing things draftwise that we've never seen here before.
 
Hey, good info from past magazines no one cares about anymore. There's value in everything, old and new.

yeah i was aware of the turn cuff but i dident think that alone would drop him into the 7th round

I have a hunch that the biggest pickup from this year will be Jason Allen. The guy has all the tools to dominate on the NFL level. I think the rest of the guys from this year's draft will be quality depth for years to come.
