Eric Berry.

http://www.nfldraftdog.com/2010-nfl-draft/Eric-Berry.html

Im sure there have been tons of threads about getting him and tons of people saying we have no chance of getting him but damn, this kid is a playmaker.

Really the exact playmaker we need in that secondary, if we have the chance to drop G.Wilsons contract (No CBA) and replace Ginn as a returner, I would seriously consider moving up to get Eric Berry.

He isnt a huge safety at only 200 pounds but he hits like a TANK, and has 4.3 speed. Put him in our offseason program bulk him up to 215. Getting compared to Ed Reed by a lot of websites. He also seems to be a more likely choice then a WR in the 1st.

I know a lot of people will say you dont build a team trading away draft picks but Eric Berry would seem to be worth it. Just my two cents on this player.

I think we could def. trade up with Detroit or Tampa, they are both rebuilding franchises(much like ourselves, we are just further into the process) looking for as many picks as possibly.

Although VERY unlikely to happen, What would we have to give them to trade up? Also I would like to hear what some of you think about him(Strengths, Weak spots) :thanks:

I don't think trading up to #2 or #3 overall for a defensive back is ever an option....not even Eric Berry...

You can count on both your thumbs (if you indeed do still have both of them) the number of defensive backs that have EVER been taken with a top 3 pick....

It's just not even an option IMO...

It is highly unlikely (with clemons here)

but we would be trading up to get a playmaker that was needed in the secondary all year and a returner.

I just see him instantly making our secondary better with Davis and Smith also here. 3 very young talented secondary players is a huge plus in todays pass happy NFL.

Just trying to start a discussion btw. I usually get insulted when I start to do this.

I dont mind trading up but only if he slips to the 8th or later which is unlikely to happen.

I think people are putting way to much stock in Clemmons....the guy is a 5th round hope...if he works great, if not nothing is reall lost.

there are probably 5-6 dudes (we all know the names) who will definately not be there when we pick.eric berry is one of those names. don't even factor them into the equation.

Yeah I realize Berry wont be there when we pick, this is more of a speculation/discussion thread about him in general and what we would have to do to get him.

I dont watch to much College football so just trying to learn a bit.

I mean a guy that can make your defense (possibly) really great and be that playmaker you need at safety is invaluable. I think moving up and giving up a 2nd round pick to move up would be a good decision. Idk, when I look at Berry I think the main missing piece of this defense. Next would be a an ILB to play next to Crowder.
