At the end of last year it was obvious that we continued to have OL issues, along with LB and corner issues. We sign Suh, I get that.....very debatable signing but how often does a guy like that come available? Our receivers though not elite were at least halfway decent. So we spend a first on a receiver.....don't get me wrong, I like Parker but there are other major holes on this team! Then in the 2nd, we sign Phillips....once again the kid looks good, but didn't we just sign Suh? Then we make a bunch of moves at receiver to supposedly improve that position.

So let me get this straight we draft a receiver and DL with picks 1 and 2 and then our major moves in FA are receiver and DL? Seriously WTF kind of logic is that? We address the biggest issue, the O-Line with a 4th round pick?!?!?!?! That is it? The plan is I hope Albert, a guy who has been injury prone his entire career can come back after major knee surgery and not get hurt again, Thomas magically will stop sucking, and noone will get hurt so Fox won't have to play......that was the game plan?

Then we make no significant moves to improve at corner or LB. Our biggest moves in FA and the draft were at positions that weren't our biggest needs to begin with with and were in fact the same positions. The whole thing is just stupid! Who the hell in their right mind would think that works well now or in the future?!

I didn't understand the Phillips pick at all. We needed to go LB with that pick. What a mess. Blow it up

I wondered the same thing man. The whole time everyone was druling over our moves in fa, and the draft in parker, I was waiting for us to address our biggest need which to me was the o line. I was not banking on Albert coming back at all. And I certainly wasn't expecting him to play even a half a season. I just can't believe that a so called professional hc, gm, and the fo in the nfl allowed the biggest needs on this team to go virtually unanswered. What the **** do they get paid for? It's all who you know... they could have just paid one of us... we probably would have done a better job than these assholes.

Exactly man! I don't claim to be a guru, hell I don't even play fantasy football......but how about some freaking common sense? It is actually pretty damn mind boggling!

Said it at the time. The Suh signing doesn't bother me but if you don't have LBs and DBs even capable of filling space that DT is gonna be nullified. So many games this year where the pass rush just didnt factor because its too easy to exploit practice squad caliber players. And there is no mistaking it, thats what we entered the season with in our D backfield.

Look, I love Phillips and think he is playing next to Suh for a long time here. But that pick was supposed to be a trade up for Kendricks or if we missed that then jump up 3 spots for Perryman. Hell even Paul Dawson in the f*cking 600th round. Hopefully we get a FO that gets weaknesses and how to address them.

Too many thought by getting suh which iam damn glad we did get was going to make the defense awesome.I have been saying since I got on this forum O-line which has yet been addressed. We are just like bill murray stuck in ground hog day.

It's not bad enough we have been horrible at getting O-Linemen.....but the ones we do get are not what you want for a Zone Blocking scheme!

Maybe with the second they were going BPA. If that was who was on their list at that pick, then that's who they chose.

I get that if we had a good team and didn't have a lot of holes.....and didn't just spend 116 (or what ever) on Suh!

I think Phillips was BPA, first round grade who was available. I also think he's a great complimentary piece next to Suh but yea I'm with you on the whole strategy not making sense to begin with.

Penny pinching on the offensive line has crippled the Dolphins now for 3+ seasons. I'm amazed Tannehill hasn't been injured.

BPA is fine and actually best within reason. But this team CREATED a ton of holes entering FA and the draft, and hadn't done anything at all to address some of them, which they never did (LB). You shouldn't reach to draft a player on need, but we needed pretty much everything but WR and the position they picked.

Even if Phillips was BPA, he wasn't worth a first round grade or early second that we gave him. He looks like a nice role player, but if you're gonna ignore a dozen needs to draft an extreme luxury BPA in the second, that guy better look like a future star or at least pro bowler. Phillips looks like a rotational player, he can contribute some good play but I don't see major impact. You could get a player like that a lot later in the draft.

You can't address every need in one draft. Thats why there are stopgap FA signings. Solid, not spectacular. We didn't even do that. DB and OL we simply picked up a dozen piles of crap hoping for one to stick. LB we didn't do anything resulting in unremarkable UDFAs seeing time.

The OP hit it right on here. This is the reason why there is such a talent gap on this team compared to so many others. When you completely ignore your holes in FA its one thing. But when you also do it in the draft, it sets you back years. And sad as it may be to say this, we are at least three years from being a serious contender. We need to fix OL, DL, LB, CB. That doesn't happen in one offseason.

That's actually not true at all. Billy Turner, Dallas Thomas and Mike Pouncey are all fits for the zone blocking scheme. Doesn't mean they can block, though.
