Looks Like Billick's Interview Drought Is About To End

I like the deadline. This makes us look like we're getting jerked around. The tail does not wag the dog, sign or take a hike. This feud with Billick is really stupid. He would come in here and do a great job.

oh yeah just found out. ONLY reason he is getting an interview with Atlanta is he and Mike Smith are brothers-in-law

There is no feud. He's a Superbowl winning HC and the only sniff at employment he can get is an interview for OC.

How do you know he would do a great job here? You don't.

1. Because it was an interview for a book and based on the sound of it there was some confusion as to who was kidding. I don't get into specifics because Armando at the herald does it just fine.
2. Allowing himself to be played and fooled by Jeff Fisher... A man who clearly isn't sold on this franchise AND who hasn't won a damn thing outside of reaching one super bowl a decade ago.

This is two years in a row our franchise has been made to look like idiots because of your beloved Mr. Ross. If he fails to land Fisher then it's two years in a row of goofy, awkward, and hastily made press conferences with a coach he CLEARLY didn't want...and not to mention two years in a row of being national laughingstocks and punchlines.

Again...I'll reiterate.. savvy businessman but thus far an idiotic owner.

Other than Billick, who you have no idea wants to HC here or not, what candidate have we lost out on during the quest for Fisher that you covet?

According to some, no offer has even been made to Fisher and we continue to interview candidates.

I think things are going fine.

Didn't Mike Smith work on Billick's staff in Baltimore? I think Smith was the Ravens LB coach before moving on to the Jags DC. Assume they have a relationship.

We can't "continue to interview candidates" when we haven't interviewed anyone since Tuesday. And I KNOW you're way too smart of a person to believe that fisher hasn't been offered. But if not, I've got some oceanfront property for sale in Wyoming.

Not saying billick is the end all answer, because he isn't, but doesn't it make sense to at least give a Super Bowl winning coach at least a courtesy interview?

This whole process just goes to show you that despite all his billions, Steve Ross is clueless when it comes down to how to run a franchise and how not to let your emotion get in the way of making a sound business decision. Yeah billick inadvertently cost you 40 million but if hired and successful he could potentially make you much much more.

Here goes another person using the word "clueless" to describe a man who has made hundreds of millions in his life. Just how you don't **** a person you work with, you don't keep someone in your organization that you don't get along with.

Playoffs aren't even over yet. I understand you want interviews to keep rolling in, but this isn't something that's going to happen overnight.

Why would Ross hire somebody that he personally doesn't like? That would be a HUGE block of communication and a quick way to put this team deeper in the hole

Again please read my posts about Ross. I have said time and time again that Ross is a damn good business but thus far clueless as an owner. Please prove me wrong. Im sure alot of it comes from bad advice and inexperiece as an nfl owner. Maybe you enjoy him basically sabotaging the season by undermining the head coach. Maybe you enjoy clumsy and hastily made press conferences after your top coaching candidate turns you down because you're not smart enough to fire your coach beforehand. Would you want to work for a boss who's known to undermine head coaches? Maybe you do. Maybe you enjoy sub-500 seasons and enjoy being a league laughingstock and national punchline. Me? I share the same sentiments of most around the league when it comes to Ross and Ireland. Proceed with caution.

And with that I rest my case.

It's not about hiring someone he doesn't like. It's about the childish @$$ reasons for not liking him

How do you know who we have scheduled? You don't. niether do I. No, I don't believe that Fisher does not have offers. I think he does, but my point is that it's possible. I don't really know for sure. And no, it doesn't makes sense to interview him if you don't want him as HC. That's a waste of time.

One thing that Al Davis used to do, that I think was actually pretty smart, was he would just interview everybody to try to pick their brains, see what they thought, try to get some new perspectives and ideas.

Now, Al Davis was pretty incompetent in those last years, but I think a lot more of that was due to hiring only easily controlled stooges to coach the team and making terrible personnel decisions. He still had a good mind for the game.

That's what I would do. I mean at least get different opinions on how we could improve the franchise from many different sources. But then again...im no NFL owner...
