I just finished rewatching the game for the third time and the more I see the more Ronnie reminds me of Jim Brown. Ronnie has that rare combination of speed and power plus he has a unique ability to make people miss in the open field. I don't think we've seen more than a small glimpse of what this kid can do. He was a monster late in the game. As the other teams' defense wore down he punished then. Great blocker, great hands and I think he will be the runner we want him to be. It will be a joy to watch him improve and refine his talents in a Dolphin uniform. As he adjusts to the speed of the pro game he will showcase his god given talents in a big way. What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time we all felt frustrated and now the team is on the rise and soon we'll be seeing Rickey and Ronnie in the same backfield. Now that will be huge fun.

i thikn in that second half he really grew up... hes now prepared for an NFL defense, took a few games and more practices since he missed half of preseason... but i feel now he'll be ok

Don't know if I'd go as far as to compare him to JB yet, but I do agree he looked really good, and is only going to get better. The three runs in the Red Zone on the first drive were most impressive to me, especially with our O-line and the D we were up against!

AND......

Add ricky to that mix and we will PUNISH teams in the 4th quarter. Imagine a fresh Ricky williams in that game giving ronnie a break. This will only benefit both players!!!

I CANT WAIT

Carolina's D is supossed to be one of the best in the NFL. I think Ronnie will tear up some lesser defenses this year and only get better with a full year under his belt. Pray for an injury free career!!

I see the comparisons. I rewatch a quarter a day myself. TIVO is great like that!

Notice how much stronger he ran the football and he displayed a lot of power.

Also,...maybe off topic, but for those TIVO owners, notice that the play right after we score our second TD, where Steve Smith is lined up in the slot and NOBODY picks him up...he is all alone there. He catches the football and is tackled...Madison is the late tackler and right after the whistle is blown, Madison twists Steve Smith's head around like a wrestler or something!!

I hope Saban lit into Madison after the game. Bush league crap like that is just dumb.

No one compares to Jim Brown.

I'd compare Ronnie Brown to a more atheletic version of Jamal Lewis. They both are bigger backs with deceptive speed, and they both seem to have that same short, choppy steps when they encounter contact that makes them hard to bring down.

I heard somebody compare Cadillac Williams to Marcus Allen in style and how he gets small in the hole. JB was freaking awesome and I realise what you're saying. All I'm doing here is comparing a running style and who it reminds me of so far IMO. In the second half he just looked stronger than the guys trying to tackle him. Jim was sleeker than Ronnie who has big thighs and a big butt but so far that's the comparison that comes to mind. I thought Caddy looked like Emmit Smith a little bit. Who does Ronnie remind you guy of ?

Ricky Williams needs 15+ carries a game when he returns....that's all I know compared to Ronnie at this juncture.

Ronnie's taught me that I'm an impatient man.

I hadn't thought of that comparison, but the steps and the body lean are very similar. I think JB had a little more power (or at least smaller opponents) and RB has a little more shake, but the style is certainly comparable.

We will be able to hammer teams on offense once Ricky comes back and our Oline has had time to grow together.

We'll throw early and strike first with a lead, then batter teams into submission with the running game.

Ronnie - 18 Carries
Ricky - 18 Carries
Morris - 4 Carries
Chambers - 2 Carries

I like it.

When we drafted Ronnie I compared him to Fred Taylor, who runs a lot like Jim Brown IMO. Now that I've seen more of Ronnie, I don't think he runs with as much of a "chip on his shoulder" as Taylor, but he's definitely powerful and tough to bring down. Ronnie's style to me actually looks like Marshall Faulk's, though he's a little bigger of course. Jamal Lewis, Jim Brown, and Fred Taylor run "tougher," whereas Ronnie and Marshall Faulk run "sleeker."

If anyone wants to see what I mean with the Faulk comparison, download Nublar's highlight reel from the Carolina game and watch the screen pass in the 4th quarter. Ronnie looks like he's walking on air on that play, and there are two linebackers for Carolina who are searching for their jock straps afterward.

Shouright, Good post but I still think we're going to see Ronnie display much more confidence and attitude once he is totally comfortable in the system. If RB is a combo of the guys you mentioned we are going to love this kid for a long time. I think he can be to the Dolphins what Dwayne Wade has and will be to the Miami Heat. A wonderful combination of talent, humility and desire. Once he starts to dominate you will see that chip you're looking for but you'll never see him trash talk or taunt. He'll just whip you for four quarters. His Godgiven ability is tempered with class. I'm SO happy with this pick. How smart is Coach Saban? I'm pretty happy with him too.

I don't think there will be enough carries for both ricky and ronnie. Look for Ricky to be traded. It will be hard to have two starting tailbacks trying to split time. A good tailback needs carries lots of them. I just don't see these two quality backs getting enough touches to be happy. I know Ronnie split time with cadillac but in the nfl it is differant. The starting tailback needs to get his carries and alot of games when behind the pass is going to be used in linehan's ofense.
