Running back Alley Broussard, who led the LSU Tigers with 867 rushing yards and scored 10 touchdowns last year, will miss the entire upcoming season with a knee injury.

Broussard, a preseason Second-Team All Southeastern Conference selection, hurt his right knee during a short scrimmage on Saturday. The specific nature of the injury was not immediately disclosed.

"I feel really bad for Alley," said Les Miles, Louisiana State's new head coach. "He worked so hard this summer and put himself in a position to have a great year."

Broussard, just a junior this year, set an LSU single-game rushing record with a 250-yard romp against Ole Miss in 2004. Now, Justin Vincent and Shyrone Carey, as well as senior Joseph Addai, will have to carry the load in the Tigers' backfield.

LSU is deeper at RB than any team in the country. If Justin Vincent can get his act together, off the field, maybe he can resume his ascent to stardom. If not the pass catching Addai will get his chance to prove his worth to the scouts at the next level.

LSU is absolutely loaded. Sucks for Broussard, but shouldn't hurt the Tigers that much. If the SEC weren't such a minefield, LSU would be my pick to win the whole thing.

Although I don't want to see any1 get hurt, and as it has already happened, from where I'm standing its 1 less mine to step on. The Vols/Tigers game could be the game of the season this year in the SEC.

That's obviously a big loss for them. It'll be interesting to see what kind of learning curve they have with Miles, and how this setback impacts them.

Still, though, they're stacked.
