(Rotoworld) BuffaloBills.com beat writer Chris Brown is "hearing" that the Chargers are willing to part with Michael Turner for an early second-round pick.

Rotoworld snippet

I'm not one to run about the halls screaming "fire!" or "trade!".

But, on a slow day, I thought I'd throw out this little snippet on Rotoworld. Considering the Trent Green trade rumors are still (barely) kicking.... I wondered what many of you might feel of an alternative.

Michael Turner "The Burner", whom we've personally witness scamper down the sidelines for a score. Considered to be the best RB #2 in the land. His asking price has (rumored) been lowered.

First, let's set up some boundaries to this....

1. Daunte IS healthy
2. Ricky IS coming back
3. The pick must be a 2007 2nd.
4. Calvin Johnson will NOT be drafted by the Phinz

Now... would you trade? Why? Why not?

My personal opinion.... yes.

I'm not one for trading picks. But, I'm looking at this in a different light. We have a decent, not spectacular WR corp. There are no longer any WRs available that could change our offense in the next year. And, we will be focusing on the running game. So, we can strengthen the RB depth and add a receiving dimension/mismatch on the field at the same time.

Turner is relatively young and adds a dimension we don't have.... great speed.

For me, Ricky doesn't really factor into the decision. Why? Think Reggie Bush.

Ronnie RB1, Ricky RB2 and Turner RB3/WR.

And, I'd have Turner on the field, ala Bush, 60% - 75% of the time.

Now... what do you think on this slow day... GMs around Phinland.

Not in favor of trading a second to have a backup for Ronnie when we have plenty of needs on this team.

I say no because we have so many other needs. Turner is a hell of a running back, I am hoping and praying that the Bills don't swing a trade for him.

He's big, strong and fast, but he isn't better than Ronnie.

I would love to get him for a 2nd and then trade him to buffalo for their 1st...

I agree with the "needs".

But, my thoughts were not to trade away a pick for a guy who might see 2 or 3 snaps a game.

Pro Set:

WR1 - Chambers
WR2 - Booker
RB1 - Brown
RB2 - Turner
TE - Martin

If Turner goes in motion to either WR1 (moving Chambers inside) or to WR3, we've just put a LB on one of the the fastest RBs in the league.

With Ricky and Ronnie interchangeable.... I see this as an offense than can dictate to nearly any defense in the league.

Of course, this is all part of my "Levi Brown @ #9 and Ryan Kahlil in the 2nd" master plan make-over of the OLine.

If you think about it, this is the formula the Saints used to vault a mediocre offense into the best of the league. An aging Joe Horn, Terrence Copper, Devery Henderson and Marques Colston. Do those names really strike fear?

Sure, Brees was integral... but don't look past the mismatching of Bush.

I do not think they have any intention of trying to make this trade. Not when they have a chance of either Peterson or Lynch at 12.

But never know with Marv I guess

That 2nd could become a future prospect QB, a speedster WR, or a starting LT- all of which I would not trade for a backup RB much less a 3rd stringer on this team if and when Williams is reinstated.

Turner is a legit talent though and IMO will be a steal at the price of a 2 for some other team.

People keep missing my "on the field 60 - 75% of the time"...

:(

This is why I don't start new threads! :tantrum:

Nathan, it doesn't make sense to have Turner on the field 60-75% of the time. If you want a pass-catcher you go get yourself a wide reciever. You don't trade a 2nd round pick for a RB and spread him wide.

i see what your saying but i still dont know about a 2nd rounder for a backup running back when we have so many needs
