We better get another good CB if we go get rid of him, because we dont have the depth to let him go with no backup plan.
 
I don't think we should get rid of him. I think he should stay around and help develop his replacements. The guy starts every game and has no one to back him up. Granted, he does miss tackles and hardly ever gets INTs these days, but he is decent in coverage.

I would like to see Miami bring in a young CB, maybe from the draft, and move Madison around more. It would allow the young CBs to develop and take some of the demand off Madison. Maybe he would produce more that way?
 
I still truly truly think that Madison is a lot better than anyone gives him credit for. He mat not be as good as he once was, but he was once a top 3 or 5 corner in the league. He still does more than hold his own, and it would be a differicult task to just sign someone else as good as he is right now.

sounds good and all but you cant keep players like madison around just for development reasons. if we deal madison , saban will find another young cb for a lot less money. madison is aging and his performance speaks for itself. if he was in his last couple years of his career like seau then yes keep him but he's not. lets sell high and buy low.

We would've asked him to retire except for the fact that he's still the best corner on the team. Want to replace Madison with Reggie Howard, anyone? Unless we sign Clements or other FA's, we need to keep Madison for depth.

The guy allowed his FIRST touchdown reception of the year today.

He had a below average game today but he ALWAYS has a bad day against Coles.

He also forced a fumble today.

How quickly people forget how well he has played this year and the last three weeks especially...whatever.

I'm not argueing about Sam today though...all the "Sam Bashers" can continue your dillusional "he's washed up" banter...enjoy.

Is he what he once was? No.

Is he our best defensive back? By a WIDE margin.
 
The problem with Madison is that this season, he counts $6.3M against the salary cap. The only reason we traded Surtain was that we couldn't afford to take the salary hit on Madison. I like Madison, but he is no longer an elite corner. Does anyone know the cap status if we cut him in the offseason, and then try to bring him back at a lower salary?
 
i have tried to tell people that we need to draft a cb or bring one in thru free agency. we definately should pursue qb printers and or reggie mcneil but most importanly shake up the receiving corp. and we should draft a.j. hawk

I think we need both draft and FA. Rookie CB's shouldn't be starting right away and our only veterans are Kiwaukee Thomas (who's a FA) and Reggie Howard. If anything, Howard should be the one to be dumped not Madison.

Why is that the most important thing? They have not been bad at all this year. CC is finally living up to expectations, Welker has been surprisingly productive and Booker have been solid, espicially of late.

Printers is a longshot at best. Sure he has talent, but usually there's a reason guys play up here in the CFL. I would rather see the team draft the QB of the future.

Madison is still the best corner on the team. Even if they bring someone else in, it's likely it will be a player other than Sam who gets cut. If they decide to take a cap hit one way or another, it's more likely Howard will be gone. Madison gave up his 1st TD of the year today. Hardly a washed up CB who needs to be cut.
 
i think its more important to get rid of howard. bring in a #1 corner and i think Sam MIGHT do alrite as a #2 corner but if you can find better jump the gun. I would love to see us draft jimmy williams
