Regardless of all the will we/wont we trade talk for boldin - i think everyone will agree that we need a big year in terms of production from ted ginn this season.

my point would be if he fails to break out this year, he is moving more and more towards bustville.

a quick comparison:

Ted Ginn : (420+790) 1210 yds (2+2) 4tds - 2 rushing tds

Calvin Johnson: (756+1331) 2087yds (4+12) 16tds - 1 rushing td

Dwayne Bowe: (995+1022) 2017yds (5+7) 12tds

Anthony Gonzalez: (576+664) 1240 yds (3+4) 7tds

Meachem and davis were the other 1st round wrs taken that year and have done nothing.

Steve Breaston was taken round 5 and had 1000+yds and 3tds last year.

Lets hope Ted has a Roddy White style 3rd season and not a troy williamson style one.

Yeah lets hope.... but C Johnson played on the lions..they had 2 throw it they were always losing.. Breaston was on the Cardinals (PASS HAPPY).. & Bowe is just solid IMO.......Good post by the way

Calvin Johnson is much better than Ted Ginn, he's physically a more dominant player, it wouldn't matter if he played for a team who's winning all the time or a team who ran the football a lot, or a team who's defense controlled the game so he wasn't on the field all the time.

Breaston is a lot like Ted Ginn, i think he's good numbers are the product of the two all-pro WR's he gets to play next to. He's a weapon from the slot.

This isn't TGJ's make or break year, they simply need to get a legitimate number one to play alongside him. He's not that guy.

Well, since we drafted him #9 overall, and paid him money commensurate with that selection, then this year IS his make or break year to be our #1 WR.

I never thought Ginn was worth the #9 overall pick, but it's not quite "make or break" for him just yet. He's still learning / adjusting to the NFL in my opinion....

He hasn't hit his peak yet, and I'm convinced there's still more to see. Let's just hope it happens for him sooner rather than later. The one thing that really kind of concerns me though, is his size, and he's not going to be getting any bigger....

Give him 09' / 10', and then we'll talk again....

IN TUNA WE TRUST....

Get ready for disappointment. Ginn will not have a breakout season. We're a run-oriented offense and we'll be more so now with Satele gone and Donald Thomas / Smiley coming back. We also like to spread the ball around to keep the defense guessing. All of our receivers had similar receiving numbers last season because of this. Personally, I'm fine with his role, and I would be satisfied if he put up numbers like last season - as long as he catches the catch able balls and spreads the field so others can get open.

I don't think he was drafted to be a "number 1" receiver though. I think he was drafted to be some kind of all around weapon in Cam Cameron's offense. Be it PR, KR, in various formations. But now he doesn't even do that, we changed staffs.

Doesn't matter who's on the receiving end until we get someone who can throw deep consistently.

Until Ted Ginn's role in the offense changes, the chances of him breaking out are very low. In fact of the rceivers you mentioned, only Gonzalez was targeted fewer times than Ginn was last season, not including Meachem and Davis.

Well I would say atleast he is doing as well as the other OSU guy Anthony Gonzalez but unfortunately Ginn is our #1 wr and Gonzalez was behind Harrison and Wayne. So far I hate to say it but Ginn hasn't been what I hoped for but he was very unpolished coming out of college so I still have hope that he will come into his own. One thing I can say is he isn't dropping passes. I like that.

I agree with nosleep and Geforce in that we spread the ball around it's hard for any WR to put up big numbers. Ginn showed last year that he has really good hands.

So you're happy with 2td receptions? sorry, Im not.

Get a legit #1 receiver (Boldin) to play next to him otherwise he will break out however it will be for his next team.:boohoo:
