Closely examining each throw of Ryan Tannehill's 2016 season and watching him grow into a player that can not only do everything within the offense, but make plays when things don't go according to the plan was a sheer pleasure.

Read about the tumultuous road Tannehill took to become the Dolphins entrenched and revered franchise quarterback.

Film break down, countless GIFs, scouting reports and much more inside.

There’s Aaron Rodgers and Ryan Tannehill when it comes to throwing the ball on the move – that’s it. Tannehill is exceptional in this regard. Gase recognized this and adapted his offense from a hurry-up spread it out scheme to more “nasty” splits (tight ends and receivers flexed closer to the offensive tackles) throwing from play action and getting the quarterback on the roll. Tannehill’s ball placement on these throws is exquisite and unmatched by all (sans Rodgers.)

Amazing what a competent coaching staff can do. He's had the talent all along, anyone who knows the game could see that.

Good article...love the proclamation that hes only scratched the surface....the stars are finally aligned.

Seems like the arc on his deep ball was not always there, maybe more deliberate last year. Ive not gone back and looked so could be wrong, just recall pre-gase thinking his deep ball was more a long line drive...impressive but harder to get under.

That quote in white is not easy on the eyes... good article though

Tannehill playing street ball. He is moving around unscripted. He's seeing throwing lanes and understands how the DL is attacking. In 2017, I'd like to see him call plays at the line that will allow him to get rid of the ball quickly when he smells blitz, much like Peyton Manning did. I don't want this guy running around too much, even if he's good at it.

His deep ball actually saw a huge and noticeable improvement in 2015...

This guy was probably one of the 92%ers

That quote sums it up. Me and my family would always agree he should roll out and be more mobile. Last year proved exactly why that is, and what should have been done since year 1.

My only concern is knowing, since the organization has been open about it, that Tannehill is going to have his mobility drastically reduced. I love watching him move, and frankly I think some of his best/most impressive throws are on the run, and he's possibly the toughest QB in the league. But being less mobile worries me in more ways than one, both for Tannehill having to adjust, and Gase most likely coming into his second season and adapting to a now-changed quarterback style.

It would be more of a concern if he couldnt handle standard drops and pure pocket play...they are probably gonna instruct him for this year at least to throw the ball away

I just hope i dont see him on some non contact thing crumpled up cause his knee gave out...that kid deserves such a better fate

I guess I have a different definition of breaking out, I am more result oriented. He has not had that moment when he arrives and the fins win. Hopefully he breaks out in 2017, but a less mobile Tannehill scares me for sure.

In the context of what the FO Einsteins haven't done (and have done w/Albert) to protect our promising QB, I'd agree about being concerned. And before the injury his 7-1 streak of play once Gase's influence kicked in, is about as positively encouraging and optimistic as we can hope for, especially considering that he's outplayed the likes of Luck and Flacco.

Yup agree, that was apparent to pretty much everyone. I was referring to how the article mentioned his deep ball has good arc on it - that's been a recent development. Really noticed last year he was deliberately getting some air under it.

Lots of those throws on broken plays were a combination of a lot of skill and some luck are needed. Tannehills pocket presence improved dramatically last year, I remember thinking that was something he wouldn't learn.

However, how has the FO not recognized after last year's breakout season for Ajayi, that a potent run game with a balanced offense is the best way to allow Tannehill and the receivers the best chance to be successful? Building a good OL has proven to be difficult, I'd even settle for a pretty good OL.
