This would be a guy I would like to bring in via free agency. I think on offense because it feels as if they are only a player away, go out and get a guy with NFL experience and a ton of upside. Hes something like 6'5 and young. Id rather see them just load up on D through the draft, bring in a guy like this and maybe try and grab another wr somewhere in the first 4 rounds of the draft if someone is there to add additional explosiveness. Usually WR's take a few years to pan out and being we really only need a guy or 2 on offense I would like to see the main part come through FA.

What is his status with SD after this year? Unrestricted?

I hope we give Pat Turner a chance

1st year #'s:

Floyd - 4 catches for 3 yards

Brandon Marshall - 20 catches for 309 yards

Vincent Jackson - 3 catches for 59 yards

Miles Austin - 0 catches for 0 yards

i live in CA and watch san diego a lot i dont really think hes a clear cut no.1 wr hes just a good player in a good system imo i dont see any breakaway speed or something that wow's me he does make really nice tough catches but that doesnt make him a no.1.

Professional career
San Diego Chargers

As an NFL prospect in 2004, Floyd was not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. He was signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent after the 2004 NFL Draft.

In 2004, Floyd was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted rookie on April 30, 2004. He was later waived on September 5. Floyd was then signed to the practice squad two days later. He was then signed to the active rosteron December 11.
Floyd started against the Kansas City Chiefs on January 2, and caught first NFL touchdown, of 13 yard pass from Philip Rivers. That same pass happened to be Rivers’ first-career touchdown pass. He helped set up second-quarter touchdown catch by Ryan Krause with a 27-yard catch down to Chiefs’ 10-yard line that led to touchdown three plays later. Played as a back-up in Wild Card Playoff game against the New York Jets.

In 2005, Floyd was released on September 3. He was then re-signed to practice squad two days later. He spent the first 12 weeks of the season on the Chargers’ practice squad. He was then signed to the main roster on December 7, however remained inactive for the rest of the season.

In 2006, Floyd caught 31-yard touchdown pass at Baltimore, on play in which Samari Rolle slipped and fell in coverage. He caught touchdown pass for second time in two weeks with nine-yard tiptoe catch in back corner of the end zone against Pittsburgh. Floyd caught a career-long 46-yard touchdown pass in third quarter of the win at Cincinnati. He was selected as the Chargers Alumni Player of Week following game in Cincinnati, after substituting for the injured Eric Parker who was out with a neck injury. Floyd left Cincinnati with his first-career 100-yard game, making five catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. He was inactive for Week 13 game against Denver game with an ankle injury. Floyd was placed on “Reserve-Injured” list due to the ankle injury December 14.

In 2007, Floyd made a 25-yard catch on a 3rd-and-13 play during the opening drive of second half of the game Green Bay that helped set up 21-yard touchdown catch-and-run by LaDainian Tomlinson. He helped extend the Chargers touchdown drive on the opening series of the Week 6 game against the Raiders with 16-yard catch on a 3rd down.
On March 25, 2008, Floyd was re-signed by the Chargers as a restricted free agent.

Floyd has 5 or 6 years

Reguardless what his status with the Chargers is, remember the Chargers cut Chambers to make sure they had room on the roster for him and cap room to pay him.

At least that was the impression I got when they released Chambers.

he is probably the most realistic option for the Phins.

Hes everything Patrick Turner's not.....

He fits the FA mold Parcells/Ireland seek out, he is an upgrade at a position the team wants toimprove & wont break the bank.

A few examples of past FA signings that meet those specs, J.Smiley,J.Grove(remember everyone wanted them to over pay for that C from Baltimore Brown was his name I think)and G.Wilson.

I had posted in another thread about WR & Floyd directly where is SD '09 stats would have ranked if he was on miami the thing with doing that is one should consider in Miami he would likely be a primary target on alot of plays at SD I couldnt imagine he would be the #1 target on many plays other than where he has a major advantage, playing with Gates & Jackson he isnt going to be getting his number called that often.

Floyd would be a nice signing IMO, fans expecting a major signing I think will be disappointed.

If we want him here, we should probably know how to spell his name.

Floyd is a beast, I would love him but I think he is an RFA. We would probably need to give up a 2nd rounder to get him... It might be worth it.
