Mando: Investment in Tannehill Does not Include Investing at Guard

First time I am really disappointed in Mike Tannenbaum.

A veteran was needed at guard at the start of FA or a top round pick is necessary.

Starting Dallas Thomas is just foolish. I believe in Turner, but Thomas? Please.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard .

You need a guard that can play. Wether you have geno smith or Peyton manning .

If you can get a solid guard you get one.

this dallas Thomas crap has to stop. wtf do they see in him. everyone in the world can see he sucks except the coaching staff. drives me nuts. the guy is a turnstyle

nothing like a recipe for disaster vs the jets and bills fronts

fail forward fast

Just an opinion from one writer. I doubt that's how the team feels

Is it possible that the Dolphins are disseminating this info to the media as a smoke screen come draft day?

:bricks:

I find it odd....that they bring in Ndamunkong...clearly expressing the need for creating interior pressure on defense. But when it comes to offense we just don't factor it in...

as things stand if albert gets hurt again or is a no go week 1 you are looking at jason fox and dallas thomas as starters on your oline and potential long term ones...and no real depth to speak of...they have to get a least another piece...have to

otherwise the qb contract won't be worth a hill of beans

Benton is a genius i have faith

hasn't Tannehill taken enough physical punishment yet?

Why are people chasing their tail in circles about this issue again and again? There have been four guards signed in free agency that would be considered better than Shelley Smith, who Miami let walk, and people keep acting like Miami has passed on 15 or 20 players.

Mike Iupati - 5 years/$40 million: Too much money for a guard that doesn't fit Miami's zone blocking sceme.
Orlando Franklin - 5 years/$35.5 million: Possible fit for Miami, but remember Franklin was a bust at tackle for Denver before they moved him to guard. Likely more money than Miami could spend.
Cling Boling - 5 years/$26 million: Possible good fit.
James Carpenter - 4 years/$19 million: Not really a zone fit.

So in reality Miami has missed out on two players that most would consider a possible fit here in Miami, Boling and Franklin. There is still the draft ahead and there are several players Miami could consider that could be as good or better than Boling.

Before we start running around in a panic about the offensive line shouldn't we wait to see what the roster looks like going into the OTA's? If Miami enters camp with only Turner and Thomas at guard than we can all be concerned, but I doubt that happens.
