Browns Introduce Mangini

Eric Mangini has no regrets about his time with the Jets

BEREA, Ohio -- Eric Mangini is starting over where he started out.
Mangini, who began his NFL career as a ball boy for the Browns, was introduced as Cleveland's 12th full-time coach on Thursday, less than two weeks after he was fired by the New York Jets.

Not a big fan of his, but I do think he got a raw deal from the Jets. He did not deserve to be fired. Woody bringing in Favre was the downfall of this team, not Mangini.

This could be yet another Pennington-like situation. Pennington proved that the Jets made a huge mistake taking Farve over him. Now Mangini will have the same chance.

well, he does have a pretty good staff coming in from the looks of it. One of Mangini's downfalls was that Brian Schottenhiemer was atrocious after being fairly creative with little talent his first year as OC, he struggled this year with some decent talent (though the Jets don't have any speed on offense outside of Washington).

Still, I was under the impression it would be awhile before he was even offered an assistant job because his rep among the coaches took such a huge hit in the last two years for how he runs the Jets and how he acted towards the Pats.

Mangina was in way over his head. Like a newly produced wine, he needed to sit on the NE shelf for a few years to properly ferment instead of being decanted prematurely because Woody fell in love with the Belicheat mystique. Don't know that he necessarily learned much during the Jest experience. Inherited a surprisingly decent team with a very soft schedule from Herm and all the sudden he's a "genius," convinced to rest on his laurels.

Bottom-line, just like Satan, he's 2 games under .500 as a pro coach which makes him mediocre so far at best and IMO il-prepared for another HC job even though Cleveland seems to be loaded for bear.
