The landscape of the AFC will drastically change in the next 2-3 years, the windows for both Brady and Manning will be closing sooner rather then later. Don't get me wrong, Brady is still one of the best if not the best QB in the NFL, and I'm sure aaron rodgers would have something to say about that, but his window is closing, he will be 35 when the 2012 season starts and I don't see him playing much longer after that. He has 3 rings, and will retire with over 50,000yds passing and over 300TD's and he is already in the HOF, there is no need for him to play late into his 30's (37,38) like elway and marino did, to get a ring, his resume will be all set, and the only reason favre played into his 40's was to chase records and get one last ring to cement his legacy, not gonna happen with brady. Manning will be 36 when 2012 starts and who knows if he will even be playing next year with his neck injury, and even if he does come back how healthy will he be? if he does come back 100% then he probably would play into his late-30's to try and get one more ring and chase the records and cement his legacy, but this is a neck issue were talking about and I think we could be seeing the beginning of Mannings demise.

But my point is this, with both these guys nearing the end of their careers that will change the landscape of the AFC, were talking about two perennial playoff teams every year, both teams combined have played in 6 superbowls in this decade alone, the steelers, colts, and pats have dominated the AFC the past 8-10 years. Father time catches up to everybody and these two guys are going to retire sooner than we think and that will leave a huge opening in the AFC for some franchises to break through and step up! That is why it is so important that whoever comes in here and takes over puts us on the right path and right direction so we can be ready to succeed. The coach, gm, QB, and owner all have to be on the same page and we need to build some structure and stability with this organization, after this seaons is over we need to make all the right moves, now is the time to right the ship and get this franchise back on the right path to succeed because guess what? in a few years there will be no brady or manning and the opportunity is now to get this organization on the right path, whether its cowher, gruden, fisher, ryan or whoever else, they need to bring structure and stability and give us some direction!

I dont know man...Looks like the Pats may have their next guy in Mallet..They are stacked with young talent and have alot of picks in the next few years..

The Colts may get Andrew Luck...I would not count on them faltering..I do hope Miami can turn things around tho.

Ya but the Newton, Bradford, Luck etc. ERA is waiting in the wings. Face it we are F*cked!

Anything is possible. manning was showing chinks in his armor last year. Brady is one hit away from really looking in his 30's. Why not us?

It just won't be us while Ireland or Sparano is in charge.

With any QB's transition into the pros, nothing is ever etched in stone, including Luck's (likely) success, BUT if the great Aaron Rodgers could learn despite Diva Bretta refusing to lift a hand to help in his development, imagine how ready a pure top 5-10 talent like Mallett will be as a grasshopper sitting at the feet of an even better and less selfish QB? If he's the next generation of QB that torments us, you know who to blame!

Thomas is looking good, but IMO, Mallett should have been an irresistible jewel of a gift sitting there into the 3rd. :idk:

Very true...Some thought Ryan Leaf was going to be great..I am sure no one on this site was ever guitly of that tho.

Mallet is no Brady. Between the ears of Brady and Manning is what really separates them from any other QB. Brady was a 6th round pick based on physical, tangible ability alone...his mind is what's sets him apart. Mallet doesn't have that. I think Mallet could be successful but not on Brady's level.

Manning is closer to the end than Brady IMO. I think Manning is 35, if he's lucky and fully recovers from the neck he may play 3 more years. Indy has improved every week now so I do expect them to win 4 or 5 games this season.

We're not getting Luck unless we get that first pick. Even if St. Louis ends up with the first pick someone can probably offer them more than we can in a trade unless we include our 1st, 2nd and 3rd this year and our 1st and 3rd next year plus a player or two. It's going to take that much to secure the #1 overall pick. The pick became much more attractive in terms of value because of the rookie cap which lowers the financial risk substantially.

Got a feeling that the Colts will end up with Luck, don't see them getting many if any wins this year. I think their HC is the one HC in the league that seems less capable of motivating his troops than ours. That's manning team and it's clear only he can run it.
So they are likely to go from one QB era to another, this one bad season for the colts probably couldn't have happened at a better time.

I think I've heard somewhere Brady wanted to play until he was 40. Plus, he's not gotten hit much in his carreer... He just may.
