Diehard Phinatic!
The landscape of the AFC will drastically change in the next 2-3 years, the windows for both Brady and Manning will be closing sooner rather then later. Don't get me wrong, Brady is still one of the best if not the best QB in the NFL, and I'm sure aaron rodgers would have something to say about that, but his window is closing, he will be 35 when the 2012 season starts and I don't see him playing much longer after that. He has 3 rings, and will retire with over 50,000yds passing and over 300TD's and he is already in the HOF, there is no need for him to play late into his 30's (37,38) like elway and marino did, to get a ring, his resume will be all set, and the only reason favre played into his 40's was to chase records and get one last ring to cement his legacy, not gonna happen with brady. Manning will be 36 when 2012 starts and who knows if he will even be playing next year with his neck injury, and even if he does come back how healthy will he be? if he does come back 100% then he probably would play into his late-30's to try and get one more ring and chase the records and cement his legacy, but this is a neck issue were talking about and I think we could be seeing the beginning of Mannings demise.
But my point is this, with both these guys nearing the end of their careers that will change the landscape of the AFC, were talking about two perennial playoff teams every year, both teams combined have played in 6 superbowls in this decade alone, the steelers, colts, and pats have dominated the AFC the past 8-10 years. Father time catches up to everybody and these two guys are going to retire sooner than we think and that will leave a huge opening in the AFC for some franchises to break through and step up! That is why it is so important that whoever comes in here and takes over puts us on the right path and right direction so we can be ready to succeed. The coach, gm, QB, and owner all have to be on the same page and we need to build some structure and stability with this organization, after this seaons is over we need to make all the right moves, now is the time to right the ship and get this franchise back on the right path to succeed because guess what? in a few years there will be no brady or manning and the opportunity is now to get this organization on the right path, whether its cowher, gruden, fisher, ryan or whoever else, they need to bring structure and stability and give us some direction!
