I am no homer - and Philbin still has a lot to prove, but if the non-signing of Peyton Manning has a positive, and I know a lot of you are crying about this already, it is that we know who is running this team. Regardless of how Miami does this next season under Philbin, what is clear is that Ross won't get to be a Jerry Jones under this coaching regime. It was evident from the beginning that Ross wanted Manning, and Miami's inaction in the situation only shows that his wishes won't be considered by this coaching staff. Perhaps the decision-making process is right back in the hands of people who should be making them based on their football knowledge instead of the fat cat owner. That's a positive. And while I am not high on Flynn, if he does sign with Miami, it's yet another positive sign in that it'll be Philbin's decision.
