I am no homer - and Philbin still has a lot to prove, but if the non-signing of Peyton Manning has a positive, and I know a lot of you are crying about this already, it is that we know who is running this team. Regardless of how Miami does this next season under Philbin, what is clear is that Ross won't get to be a Jerry Jones under this coaching regime. It was evident from the beginning that Ross wanted Manning, and Miami's inaction in the situation only shows that his wishes won't be considered by this coaching staff. Perhaps the decision-making process is right back in the hands of people who should be making them based on their football knowledge instead of the fat cat owner. That's a positive. And while I am not high on Flynn, if he does sign with Miami, it's yet another positive sign in that it'll be Philbin's decision.

Next we are going to hear that he was too old anyways, that his arm strength wasnt what it used to be... The spin is on!! Plus, nothing is set yet. You guys are all freaking out!

Not freaking out - I just don't think I want a 36-year-old quarterback just for the purposes of getting fans excited.

I don't know if we get him or not, I would love to have Peyton, but, I still have faith in the direction of this team and coaching staff. I think Peyton's health is a question mark although I wish him well no matter where he goes. I think his question mark is just like the question mark on whether Matt Flynn is as good as his two starts or if he's another A.J. Feeley. If Joe Philbin thinks Flynn can win and is the best option to win games, then as we all were when Joe was hired, i'm still firmly behind Joe Philbin and this coaching staff.

The hell you are not a homer. You are posting on these boards like the rest of us. Of course it is a positive, but if you expected Manning to sign in two days then you don't know Manning. We have a chance and I am sure the front office will give is their best shot.
