Peyton Manning told the Indianapolis Star that he's halfway through his NFL career.

So what's that mean? Eight more years would give him a chance to break all of Dan Marino's NFL passing records.

And, with any luck, more chances at reaching at winning a Super Bowl.

"Yeah, I guess that I'll be handing off on the 'stretch' play when I'm an old man, huh?" Manning told ESPN.com referred to the Colts' staple running play. "It might take a little more to stretch when I'm 38 years old."

If Manning follows through with that plan, he'll play through the 2013 season for a total of 16 seasons. He is under contract through the 2012 season, ESPN reported, and wants to be a "Colt for life." Indianapolis owner Jim Irsay also wants Manning to end his career as a Colt.

He will pass Dan Marino's records and then pass Brett Favre's. Yeah, that's right. I'm saying Brett will get all of Dan's records before he retires.

All of them? Yeah right. :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2

He has a shot at the TD one if he plays another year or so but he played pathetically last season and has been a drama queen this offseason.

Still threw over 3800 yards and 20 TD's with those pathetic offensive weapons he had last year and that pathetic offensive line that was shreaded with injuries with 4-6 different starting runningback's he had last season. To say that Brett, the most competitive QB to ever play the position, can't comeback after a bad season, then we shouldn't have wasted a draft pick on Daunte Culpepper who hasn't played well since the playoffs of 2004-2005. We are now headed in 2006-2007.

I love Payton Manning. He is closest to the oldskool pure passer QBs in today's league. He is fun to watch running the offense. I hope he eventually wins the big game.

drama queen? This is the first I've heard of Peyton since the season ended.

I was talking about Favre's ambiguity and mind games over whether or not he will retire. Still, he's way over the hill. Worse than Unitas in San Diego or Namath w/ the Rams.

Brett already has more career INTs at this moment than Dan in a few less seasons. :)

I'll take my tons of touchdowns light on the turnovers thanks.

The problem with Brett, is that he wants out of GB IMO. Saying that,k I don't think he will break ALL of Dan's records.
