I understand the temptation of bringing Manning to the team is. Hell if it could get us a Super Bowl soon rather than later I am all for it. But does anyone else think this talk of signing Manning, if/when released, might be a smoke screen? I am starting to think that all this talk could just be a distraction to keep other teams occupied while we zero in on another quarterback. I mean if you think about it it does make some sense. You hear about Marshall talking up Flynn about joining the team. Then you have the reports that Manning still hasn't been cleared to play, and might not be cleared at all. Not to mention, as everyone has pointed out, Philben's connection to Flynn. I don't know maybe it is just me, but that is what I think.

Speculation is the word not smoke screen. The media is doing nothing more then trying to sensationalize the Manning/Colts split and speculate where Peyton winds up. No one in the Dolphins organization has said anything more then they are looking for a franchise QB.

Smokescreen would only work if it were AFTER the draft. Anything before that is legiimate
.

And mirrors! It makes sense. Trust me it doses, if you want Flynn it does.

Is it possible? Yes.

I think the FO's interest in Manning is legitimate.

I also think they are keeping their options open as well because the odds that Manning ends up here (or playing again) are still not great.

I believe, when all is said and done, Moore will not be the only QB we take into TC that has a shot at starting.

Exactly my thoughts 100%

Could be similar to the Philbin smokescreen "leaked" prior to landing him. Philbin was apparently out of the running and the decision was to be between McCoy and Bowles. Ross knew who he wanted, and didn't want other teams who were interested in Philbin to swoop in and try to get him signed, so he had it leaked that Philibin was no longer under consideration. Leaked strong interest in McCoy. Could be the same with Flynn. In theory, if his former OC doesn't even have him at the top of his list, he may be as good as people think. This could cause some second guessing among other teams about Flynn and keep interested teams from driving up the price. The less and more reserved interest in teams rushing to sign Flynn in hour one of FA, the better.

it doesnt matter. non of it!

smoke screen, leaks, rumour, colts, finz, ireland, fans...... .

PEYTON MANNING is the only one that matters and HE ISNT COMING HERE!!

take out a piece of paper or pull up a word pad and right down all this team TRUELLY has to offer him compared to other teams like san fran. then ask yourself where he would prefer to go. anybody looking at it with anything other than aqua and orange colored glasses and a homerized brain will agree he wont be choosing miami. to many other teams that are farther along will want his services and peyton will choose the team closest to the superbowl.

and we are NOT just a qb away from the bowl. far, far from it.

I had similar thoughts that it was a smokescreen. The key is Philben's view on Flynn: if he believes he is a franchise quarterback Ross and Ireland will do all they can to make sure we land him provided he hits FA. Personally I'm not keen on all these leaks and hints. What happens if we don't get Manning, Flynn or RG3? - the franchise looks like idiots and Moore (who is a competent starter) is undemined.

Well aren't you a ray if sun shine. Regardless if you want him here or not, the talk of Manning coming to Miami is a real thing.

And as far as who has better pieces for Manning to work with. Well the way I see it is if the Colts fell apart without him my guess is he can make it work where ever he lands.

Never go to the Library without your shotgun.

"Smoke screen," the offseason's "mediocre" and "*****/homer."

imo were closer than you think we didnt gel till over half way through the season ,and look at the games we lost ? they were by 3-7 points and that was lost in the final seconds , the 2nd half we went 6-3 imo we get a RT and another pass rusher , and another CB , not to mention the most important QB AND MAKE IT A FRANCHISE QB and we can play with anyone if we had the right coaching last year we would have been a 11-5 team , we are not far off at all from competing for a SB imo we go after the peices i just mentioned this year we have a very good shot and makin it.

the way this FO approaches things such as FA, coach signings, drafts, etc. it would not surprise me one bit if we were a team to court Manning, then swoop in and offer Flynn late and have him sign a day later.
