The Colts and Jeff Saturday can talk all they want about how Peyton is going to be ready to start the season September 11 in Houston. If this were the case, Kerry Collins would be nowhere near this football team. The truth is that Peyton's neck surgery was more serious than originally thought, and the lockout post-poned his training regimend which he said he only trusted to his Colts team trainer. He's behind schedule, he hasn't EVEN BEGUN THROWING yet, and this guy is at least a few weeks away from getting on the gameday field. And even when he gets out there, this is a guy that thrives on the study, repitition and working harder than everybody else. Remember in 2008 when he missed all of training camp? The Colts started 3-4 and Manning had one of the worst stretches of his career.

We should never rely on a team to make the playoffs, that is sad and for bum teams, we are better than this.

don't worry about us, it was all luck the last 2 years and that is bound to run out. We dominated NE in their building a few months back, bring back most of the team intact that is young an dgetting better yet we have no shot at the division and now less of a shot to make the playoffs than Miami. You are better than this Bama.

It might open the door for a team like the Texans, but as long as the Jets and Pats are in the Dolphins division they are the teams to worry about.

And we are so sorry you guys have to rely on other teams to beat us since ya'll rarely do, even under ole Rexy

I wouldnt count out Denver... Fox will turn around that Defense. And they have the QB everyone here wanted.

I think they can surprise a little but that QB isn't a winning QB, they will not be a playoff contender.

Yet Sanchez's number were really no better than Henne. The Jets won DESPITE Sanchez, not because of him.

I thought as soon as I heard Peyton wasn't as far along as he hoped, that if this injury lingered the Texans would win the division (Yeah it's said every year but I think this is the year), with the Colts making a likely wild card appearance. If Peyton misses 2-3 games...they could go into a hole too far to climb up out of.

So if they miss the playoffs let's see. KC, Baltimore, Jets, Jags. Still don't think the Jags are ready to take that next huge step, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went 9-7. KC will have a harder schedule, and I don't see Cassel doing that well again. I think their ceiling, like the Jags, is around 9-10 wins. The Ravens and Jets did lose a few impact players offseason, so it's not completely out of the realm of possiblity for one of these teams to take a dip. Personally, I think the Ravens might be the victim with having the Steelers to contend with, as well as an improved Browns team.

Manning's a good guy and a good player, but the AFC is salivating at the thought of Peyton missing a game or two. Definitely would be helpful for any AFC team.

LAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manning's Neck Injury Opens the Playoff Door for Miami

THAT said, I think the AFC division winners are pretty clear cut. The Patriots look like the best team in football in the east, I think the Steelers are the class of the North over Baltimore, Houston is, on paper, the best team in the South, and the Chargers can't possibly have the bad luck and horrible play of special teams from a year ago (4 blocked punts, 3 returned touchdowns.)

This leaves two playoff spots. Without Manning, the Colts are a perrinial top 10 draft pick team, I think most would agree with this. So for the sake of this thread, let's assume Manning misses the first 3 or 4 games and struggles to find his rhythm early. I don't see the Colts winning more than half their games.

So what's the point of the thread?

With two playoff spots open, let's go ahead and eliminate Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Oakland and Denver.

This leaves Miami, NY Jets, Baltimore, Jacksonville and Kansas City. Can the Dolphins be better than threeo of these teams? I think so. I think the Jets are vastly over-rated and their good fortunes will catch up with them sooner rather than later. The Ravens are a team on the decline, IMO, but still figure them for double digit wins. The Jags made a lot of moves, but they have plenty of holes. Kansas City, a lot of suprise teams generally take a step back a year later, we'll see if Matt Cassel and Jamaal Charles can repeat their performances.

I think we can muster a 6 seed. Do this, maybe suprise San Diego or Houston in the wildcard round, and it will be a very enjoyable season for Dolphins fans.

PS: Well, unless BAMAPHIN 22 actually IS Aqua4Ever04...is he?

Thank you. Appreciate it. BAMAPHIN 22 needs to learn how to do these things himself though and make sure not to come off looking like he authored things that he didn't.
