I searched the first 3 pages and didnt see this posted so:

A source close to USC defensive tackle Manuel Wright – the top talent in next month's supplemental draft – said Wright has been given a guarantee by an undisclosed AFC team that he will be selected in the third round. Speculation has it that the team is either Cincinnati or Miami.

(I got 5 bucks on us throwing in a 3rd round bid. Any takers?)

Edit: After Brett Tessler's post on Manny Wright's poor performance, I dont know if we throw down a 3rd on him...... I still think he will be taken in the 3rd round, but I dont know if it will be by us.

Actually I think the team in question here is Cincinatti. They've been trying to score a DT for 2 years now. I think the team will throw it in but I think this article is about the Bengals.

Does that mean you are going to bet Philter?

I could see it going either way. If we both throw in a third we beat out Cinci, right?

Well, If we both bid a 3rd, he is ours. I think it would be a good move on our part.

Personally I think both of us throw down a 3rd rounder on him. We need a young DT as bad as they do. With question marks on Chester, TimBo, and Traylor being 34, I really dont think we have a choice but to make a bid at him. If we throw in a 3rd and Cincy also throws in a 3rd, he is ours. If Cincy wants him badly, they are going to have to throw down a 2nd to trump us. Therefore because we are in the higher drafting position, I think basically a 3rd is guaranteed by us.

I agree, we need someone who can play for us next year with some experience at the position.

Could he play for us this year?

Our lottery pick at worst will be in the top third. The bengals pick will be in the second or third rung. Therefore our third round pick will do the trick if Saban wants him.

I agree... both teams will throw a third in.

We'll be higher and will get a huge athletic DT for the future... BOOYAH!!

I'm still not sure about Wright...
Everyone's on the bandwagon and we do need a DT, but is it right to spend a future third round pick out of despair? The guy still needs a hell of a lot of coaching and might not get to play at all this year.

Yes he could, I just mean next year we would have to play rookies unless we signed free agents like we did with Traylor. I think it would be smart to get someone this year who we know is going to start for awhile, to give the line some stability in the future.

Im not sure about him either, just like im not sure about half of our draft picks. The pick we throw on him will be what we believe his worth would be IF he was in the actual draft. Lets face it, we need a young DT and we probably will draft one with a first day pick in next years draft. If Manuel Wright is believed to go in the 3rd round in next years draft, then we might as well draft him now and have him under our belt for this upcoming year.

Even if we draft him with a 3rd, I wouldnt be suprised if we STILL used a 1st or 2nd rounder next year on a DT also. We really need 2 young DT's to groom.

I agree .Rodrique Wright or Ngata sounds good to me.

We need to either trade a mid round for a young DT or we need to give up a 3rd for Wright. I didn't really think that anybody would give up a thrid, but now that the Bengals possibly are going to then we will have to give up a 3rd for him.
