Manuel Wright is getting a lot of pub nationwide now for the supplemental draft. I would not be surprised if the draft pick is pushed up to a third or even a second rounder. Adam Shefter even said that if he had waited until next year's draft proper, that he would be a first round pick.

My question to you is this, would you spend a second rounder on him? Based on everything it could still be a steal and give us a presence on the line that is under thirty. I think a third is as high as I am willing to go, I just hope that is higher than the Eagles and Bengals are willing to go as well.

The people pusing him as a 2nd Rder are the people who are not going to draft him. They want another team to spend a high pick on his so next year one more player will be on the board for them.

I don't think I would go a third. I'm worried this guy will turn into a complete bum if he gets a little jack.

In a heart beat. He is a first round talent and would go in the first round if he went into next years draft. If we can get him know and only give up a 2nd or 3rd next year, than it is a steal. Then we can use our 1st round pick next year on a playmaking CB or WR!

This guys is 6'6, 310 and runs a 4.8 40 yard dash. He is raw, but has some real upside and we need to get younger at DT and this is a great chance to do it and not have to break the bank to pull this off!

if he is a 1st round guy in next years draft then i wouldnt mind giving a 2nd rd.

BUT at the same time i would try to go for a 3rd and see what happens.

Definitely CB and WR are not positions we are in need! We have Madison, Poole is out though will be back next year. Daniels seems to be a nice pickup and we could even land Law. And we also have howard, edwards that could be good backups..maybe I'm missing someone else here, roundtree?
WR?Chambers,Boston,Booker,Thompson,Welker,Davis,Newson,Bellamy..That's depth
We need DT,S and possibly QB/OL. Any pick spent at these positions are worth right now. I would be happy with a 3rd for Wright. A 2nd is a little bit a stretch

No matter whether he's worth it or not, if we spend a pick on this guy and he doesn't turn into a consistent performer fast, everybody is going to gripe come draft time that we don't have a 2nd/3rd/4th round pick.

If we really need this guy alot, then we may be forced to give up a 2nd rounder for him. We really need a talented younge DT to come in here and start for us. Now i doubt that he will start this year, but likely get quite a bit of playing time. We dont really have one good all around DT and i think that Wright will be the guy that we need.

He's a risky pick and I could understand why Saban may take a pass. He has played in what..... 2 college games. About as raw as you can get. If we draft him this year, he will count against this year's cap (we still have Ricky and possibly Law or another free agent to sign yet). Also, we can't put him on the practice squad - he has to make the team to justify the pick. Is he really talented enough to take up a roster spot and count against the cap this year when he will probably be a healthy scratch every week of the season?

Of course, if he really is worth it and we can get him for a mid-round pick, suck up the bonus money this year and let him learn so he's ready to play next year, then that could work.

Based on what little I know right now, I wouldn't spend more than a 3rd on him. But let's see how his workouts go before making a definitive statement. The kid hasn't even worked out or been interviewed yet!

Which round pick we use, if any, will be determined by: his workout, his interview, Saban's assessment of our current DTs, and where we fall in the lottery.

Assuming the workout and interview goes well, and Saban determines we have a big need (which I think he will). Then which round pick we use will be determined by the lottery order. There are two teams overtly interested in Wright, Philly and Cincy (I believe). If one or both get a lottery pick ahead of us, then we must burn a higher pick in order to get Wright. Assuming, pick order based on 2005 draft, I think we get him with a high 3rd.
