I was just watching the BC-Maryland game... and really, i am impressed by this guy. The way he moves, he reminds me of jason taylor a whole lot. he's already getting snaps in a 3-4, he's a good athlete, he moves very well laterally, which is very important (just ask Matt Roth how he'd like to be better at it...)

I don't know if he'll declare but if he does, he'd be a neat pick further in the draft... i'd like to know what you guys think, and i'm calling for CK, Tedslimmjr, SR7 and boomer if he is still alive that is, to discuss about this guy, because he seems to be going under the radar for most people but my guess is those guys have heard about him

what I get no love despite this being my main forum of action?

In terms of raw athleticism, he's behind several guys, but he is no slouch athlete and is probably a better all around player than a lot of guys we talk about as potential picks. He has the frame to get bigger, and is capable of playing any LB spot (ala Adalius Thomas). Also very very good in coverage.

Thing is, I am not sure he comes out. He'd be a first round pick whenever because he projects very well to both the 3-4 and the 4-3, but he hasn't really given any indications about entering.

Good post. Im not any of those ppl you mentioned but I think I have a pretty good eye and he looks promising. Kinda like a young Vrabel

When I was watching Raji play last week I noticed this man quite a bit to be honest. Hes a gamer and good project prospect but I haev to be honest, I prob wouldn't touch him until maybe round 3 and on. He doesnt seem to haev that steady burst that some players have. Point being though he is a Gamer and can be a good vrabel esque player past round 3.

i dont see any way this man hits the 1st round. Carpenter coming out was somehwat a clone of AJ hawk and he went about what 24 overall? or 23?

you have hardy, brown, orakpo, johnson, selvie, etc etc etc all rated ahead of him along with the fact that a lot of T will be taken in this years 1st round.

It is a strong class for T, S, LBers and tweeners and CB. I think teh 2nd round would be the strongest for the CBs.

3 of the guys you mentioned are also juniors so no garuntee they enter. But what helps Herzlich is he is a LB no matter what defense he plays. That makes him very attractive to teams like Philly, the Giants, and other 4-3 teams that blitz their LBs. Doesn't hurt that he is a great LB in coverage.

True but I doubt he goes round 1. Depending on his combine that is. If he blows away ala Long last year he will most likely shoot up boards but there are still a LOT players that warrant the 1st round pick before him.

I do believe a LOT of Jrs will declare this year as oppose to any other year due to the whole dropping the price level rookies get on their contracts to the grades they will get as far as round projection along with the fact that a lot of teams are eyeing Lbers and D Linemen as opposed to any other year as it is quickly changing to a Rush the passer league after what theh Giants did to NE and what they are doing this year.

Miami has ZZERROROROOROR pressure past porter and porter is getting old.

Roth is useless, Fergie doenst put ANY PRESSURE what so ever or even push teh line back what so ever all he does is control 2 guys which is his job but its also a liability when you dont have any rushers besides one player. Miami will draft 2 Lbers thast for certain and a NT I believe. This should be a very heavy Defensive draft.

I see miami MAYBE going center and most likley 1 WR for sure but the rest should be defense. 2 Lbers, 2 DBs, 1 NT, 1 WR, 1 C and we stgill have I believe 2 more picks left and we like to double up so that leaves room for another D linemen and another WR/DB since we are desperate in that area.

i wasn't envisionning him as a first rounder... mostly a 3rd, maybe a second if he has a good combine and gets more attention...

If a good cornerback falls to our laps or if the FO is high on some safety, this guy would be a good pick later on to compete with Roth and anderson...

This previous scenario is unlikely IMO mostly because there's good talent at OLB at the top, but would that stop the FO to draft this guy in the 3rd ? i don't think so... the OLB position is the most crucial on the 3-4 defence after the nose tackle and right now, we've got Roth who's definitely not the solution and joey porter who's good but older. I wouldn't mind at all seeing 2 OLBs drafted and this is my personal favorite for the later one picked... if he comes out of college that is !

for anyone watching college ball right now, more specifically, the boston college vs. virginia tech game, keep your eye on BC #94, it's my guy, Marc herzlich .... ;)

edit: well... he didn't do a whole lot so far, VT is either running away from him or they bring a 3rd receiver and the defence adjusts with marc leaving the box ... they run it and he's out of the play... VT clearly game planned around him and raji, no one else is effective on that defensive front it's pitiful... McLaughlin (spelling ?) has a nose for the ball but no tackling skills whatsoever

edit: well... that was a boring game lol

Unfortuneately, he doesn't play offsense. For the game, he tipped one which was intercepted and then recovered two fumbles.

I'm glad someone else noticed this guy...I have had my eye on him for about 6 weeks now....here are my notes on him....

LB Mark Herzlich (94) Boston College (JR)- Good anticipation, good angle, strong tackler, good blitz, good attempt at QB strip, great motor - TD saving tackle way down field, caused an INT....This guy is everywhere...don't see him missing tackles...HE FLYs AROUND...just caused and INT for a TD against ND while typing this...Now against FSU...this guy is awesome. Pleassssssse take him....... Him and McLaughlin just made a huge play on 4th and 5 against FSU. OMG....Just took an INT to the house against WF....he just intercepted another one...OK...against VT he tipped one which got intercepted and then recovered two fumbles...this guy is unreal!!!! This guy can be a Dolphin!!!

Herzlich had a good game, but VT ran right through the middle of BC's defense.

marc had a decent game but i was hoping he would rush the passer a little more, to show you guys what he can do... but he was on the edge on running plays and on passing plays he was out of the box or not even on the field... but yeah he had a good game

Boring? Depends on your perspective I guess. :)

Herzlich has been pretty impressive in the games I've seen him play. But what is with him putting on all that eye-black all over his face ala John Randle, seems like a tool.

Mark is a good friend from High School. He was a force in both lacrosse and Football. i played lacrosse with him. But this guy definitely knows his place on the field. Id like to see him playing on sundays though. As for the eyeblack he did the same crazy hair cuts and eye black in highschool.
