With Jed Weaver gone, the Dolphins today will entertain Marco Battaglia, who finished last season with Pittsburgh. They have had talks with former Buffalo tight end Jay Riemersma. The club also is putting together an offer for return specialist Jermaine Lewis. The Dolphins will have competition from Jacksonville, Green Bay and Cincinnati for Lewis, a two-time Pro Bowl pick.

Riemersma and Lewis would be huge additions...

JR should complement Fiedler's arm. His best season as a bill was when Flutie was throwing to him. He had a lot of dropped passes when Johnson and Drew threw to him. He should be a good addition to your team but don't expect him to block anyone. I wouldn't pay a million for his services though.

Dolphin39...

I think Jermaine Lewis would be a nice addition...
as for Rierersmasaaieriara...

I think he would be nice...but if Randy M is going to be the starter, I wouldn't pay big bucks...might be more comfortable with Pete Mitchell, Battaglia or Broughton.

I'd be thrilled with either Riemersma or Battaglia. Can you imagine the two-tight-end havoc we could wreak?

I'm also very pleased ot hear the lines are still open with Jermaine Lewis. Things are looking up!

Based on what we are offering OG and paid T Buck, I would expect Riemersma to nothing more than min and be used mostly in 2 TE sets. Also, no one though McMichael could block - and realize he is young and teachable- and he turned out to be a great blocker - I would expect Riemersma to be at least as good as Weaver blocking and better catching.

All I can say on Battaglia - besides needing to keep my daughter far away from him  - is that he is friends w/Howard Stern. After that, who knows if the guy can still play ? Also, we cannot possibly have 2 guys from Rutgers on our team, so if we sign Battaglia, we betta cut Lucas ;)

He wouldn't restructure his 3.5 million contract with the bills. I don't think he'll take vet min. from you guys, unless no one else picks him up.
