I say the kid is going to make it. I think Saban's structured enviroment will work out for him. What are your thoughts ?

DEPTH CHART

There were no real surprises on training camp's first official depth chart, released by the Dolphins on Monday.

Seventh-round 2006 draft pick Frederick Evans, who had been working with seventh-round 2005 draft pick Kevin Vickerson on the second team, is listed as the backup nose tackle behind Keith Traylor. Vickerson is listed as the fourth defensive tackle, behind Holliday, Jeff Zgonina and Wright.

Marcus Vick is listed as the No. 4 wide receiver on one side -- meaning he's somewhere between seventh and ninth among wideouts. He's the No. 3 punt returner behind Wes Welker and Frank Murphy and not listed among the quarterbacks.

''A depth chart to me, at this time of year, is for organizational purposes only,'' Saban said.

``There's a lot of competition. Competition is healthy for the team. I think it's good for everybody to know they have an opportunity to do well and have a chance to beat someone out, that everything's not already etched in stone in terms of who's going to play what and who's going to do what.''

My guess would be 'no'

Fiction

If his name wasnt Vick he probally wouldnt even be getting a tryout anywhere, I saw him at VTech and everytime he played a decent defense he looked like a fool.

I'd be surprised if he didn't stick around, in some capacity.

It will all come down to his special teams play during preseason. Barring a WR inj, he really needs to turn some heads (and flawlessly at that.)

I'll say fact, but it's based on hearsay info.

My theory is this: Vick has looked good in camp at wr but at best he's challenging for the 5th spot. I think CC, Booker, Hagan and Welker take the top 4 spots. Vick competes against a currently injured Campbell and a bunch of guys like him (they have some potential, but no track record). Reports out of camp are that Vick has looked better than Campbell at KRs. Also KJ Harris may have moved above Minor on the depth chart at rb. Minor is one of our better returners but he becomes much less necessary if Vick can replace him on ST.
Finally, Vick could be our emergency QB if they have enough confodence in DC staying healthy. Boomer mentioned earlier that one of his camp contacts says that the team may consider carrying Vick as the third QB. His versatility may allow us to save a roster spot and that carrys value. It may depend on how much Saban is wiiling to gamble and on how much confidence they have in DC.

FACT - From all the reports of people who have been attending TC, Vick has looked very good. His route running has been good, and his hands have been exceptional. Vick's versatility is his saving grace. Say what you will about him as a QB, but the guy is accurate. That's more that we could ever say about ol' Gus. The good thing is that he won't have to take any snaps under center, but he could be effective on trick plays. When it comes down to Vick, Murphy, Aromashadou, or Willis, I think Vick gets the nod because he brings more to the table. The guy has had a laundry list of off-the-field problems, but when has that ever stopped Saban?

I like your thinking Rafael, good points, I agree.

What is his potential? He has been playing great at a possition he has never played. I think he will get plenty of time to prove he can be an NFL receiver in preseason. He can only get better and I think he has alot of potential from what I have been hearing.

These are the general numbers that are active (43 players) on game days (3/4 defense)...The second column represents how many ST players come from those positions... you need to add the 3 specialists, kicker, punter, KR. Even if they hold Welker spot as one of the 3 specialists... there is no way Vick makes active... and when you go to the 53 man roster it's going to be close... they may try to hide him at some point because he does seem to have promise.

Given Mularkeys trick plays...... I think Vick is the one who pulls most of them off. I'll say FACT. Roster spot #53.
