Did anyone see this kid in the senior bowl? He is a big time playmaker. I wouldnt mind using our 2nd on him.

If he is there in the second I think there is no question that we pass on him unless we draft dez bryant in the first

that dude is a playmaker, i would spend a 2nd Rd pick on him in a heartbeat.

I doubt with the performance he put in the senior bowl that hes going to last until the 2nd. I think Gilyard is better than Dez, to be honest. I think he has a gift for making separation and has amazing hands. He just put up 103 yrds with only 5 receptions (20.6 yrds per catch average) on the best defense the south had to offer! He scored one of his long TD's on Javier Arenas DB from Alabama who is a pretty damn good. Gilyard is not a deep threat, hes an ALL AROUND threat. He'll beat you deep, post, quick slant, w/e you tell him to run. If Rolando McClain is not on the board at 12 then I would reach for Gilyard. Eh, if both were there at 12 I would have a hard time picking McClain over Gilyard.

After the game, no chance he'll be there with our #2. He'll be the 2nd received taken after (maybe even before) Dez Bryant.

gilyard better than dez??? on what basis??? the fact that gilyard just played a game so he's fresh in your mind and we haven't seen dez in a good 6 months or so???

cause to review the games dez did play in the last 2 years that couldn't be further from the case...

he looked short. how tall is he.

too bad it's the senior bowl, and not the all juniors and seniors entering the draft bowl!!

Like what I saw, would like to ee us draft him in the 2nd. On KR/PR he runs straight does not look to the sidelines. He is not scared of contact. He also has nice speed and can seperate. On the TD catch he was going against Arenas. defitnetly would like to see him in the 2nd round

i am just curious how you think gilyard is better than bryant. don't get me wrong. gilyard is a very good talent, however, bryant is superior athletically, physically, and flat out has more talent. he has prototypical size and the ability to get the jump ball and come down with it. the last full season he played in he had 87 catches for 1480 yards. that's a 17 yd avg. this past season, gilyard had 87 receptions for 1191 yards, averaging out to 13.7 yards. i know that gilyard stats are good, as is gilyard, but he just is not in the same class as bryant. i guess since gilyard has produced so much at the senior bowl and bryant hasn't played in over 4 months people have forgotten his vast skill set. while being matched up against aruably the best cb in the country in the sugar bowl, he was limited to 41 yards on 7 catches. with that being said, i wouldn't mind having either on my team.

I'm not saying that Dez sucks. I'm just saying Mardy is just better. Its common knowledge that Dez is a jump ball WR with great concentration/body control who excels in the red zone much like Dwayne Bowe (who is a great player!). However, Mardy makes separation and has great hands much like Reggie Wayne (but not at his level). Mardy's speed also helps him get open (enough) while Dez is forced to out jump his coverage which he is AMAZING at. They both have good route running. In build Dez takes it but in Athleticism, com'on, Mardy is better. And RELAX this is just one man's opinion and I'm pretty sure we've all had about the same amount of coaching experience in college/NFL so don't go getting all sensitive on me.

Honestly, I was hoping that none of this would of happened to Mardy so that he could continue to go under the radar so we could pick him up in the second BUT he just had to light it up. Good for him.

And... NO! I'm not saying this because its fresh in my mind. I've always been a fan of Mardy. Check out my post in this thread: Post #41 Jan. 23rd 2010 (Pre-Senior Bowl). But now its going to be impossible to get both McClain and Gilyard therefore I see a bigger need at WR and Dez wont be there (still take Mardy!).

went to high school with him and have a few reasons why i like him. he got into a car accident with my girl friend at the time and had multiple face and body wounds. the next day he was on the field for some friday night football. then in college he was stripped of his scholarship. he worked 3 jobs while homeless and trying to make the grades to play football. so yea i would like marshawn gilyard.

well i appreciate your explanation...i don't see reggie wayne in mardy gilyard...

i wouldn't personally take gilyard in the 1st and i'm debating if i would at #43...and i'd run the card at #12 up to the podium with dez bryants name on it...

to each his own...

I'm sure our front office already likes his attitude. From what I'm reading, this guy sleeps, eats, dreams about football. That's the Parcells' type all the way. I watched some video on him today because I admit I didn't hear much about him till recently and this guy plays hard and fast, isn't afraid of contact and just looks like a playmaker. He will make us forget about Ted Ginn.
