I heard on ESPN radio yesterday that Mare is the highest paid kicker in the league. IMO that means its time for him to go or take a huge paycut. No way does he deserve to be the highest paid kicker in the league when he missed the most FG's last season.

Mare's got the ability to send every kickoff deep for a touchback which is important with the dangerous returners in the game. He had a rough year with the field goals if he can get back on track IMO he is one of the leagues best. Sometimes all it takes is a minor adjustment and he did have a leg injury a while back sometimes it takes a while to straighten it out. Also, I believe he has had different holders over the last few years. Sometimes that is hard for a kicker to get use to. I am not so quick to send him packing.

We might be able to trade him to New Orleans or Dallas if they don't draft Crosby.

The smart move for us is to make a trade for a mid second round pick and draft Crosby. He's the only true NFL ready kicker in the draft. By drafting him early we turn Mare into a premium comodity on the open market.

If we don't make moves like this, and I do mean moves, we will not surpass the Patriots. Our boys in the office need to to get their ***es in gear and start making things happen.

He didnt want a pay cut last year, he better realize that hes goign to have to take one this year with the way he played or else he will be gone.

Mare's touchback ability is almost uncanny. He's another reason our defense looked good.

I too am not so quick to can him either. I'm under the belief now, that Saban put a dark cloud of misery over this franchise to the point it affected our players. I'm a so called "hater" towards some, who is willing to give a few players here one more shot under a coach who appears to be a great communicator, and who seems to be fair with the roster.

I thought Adam Vinatieri was the highest paid when he made 2.4 Mil last year.

Mare missed a number of kicks last year, 10, but 5 of those came from 51+ yards away, so not really a fair reflection of his skills. He remains the best kickoff exponent in the league.

And Crosby the most NFL ready kicker in the draft? I'm sure you didn't mvan to forget Justin Medlock or Nick Folk, etc.

This isn't Madden.

I'm just as shocked as you guys are. I heard last week that he and JT are the highest paid at their positions. JT deserves that title but Mare is far from it. Something has to be done about this. Either take the pay cut or get cut. If anyone deserves to be the highest paid kicker its Adam Vinatieri, not Olindo Mare.
