Did we get everything squared away with Olindo Mare, I know I heard he was upset when we asked him to restructure, any news on him lately. Is he still going to be a phin?
 
still a phin and havent heard a thing, i think it would be a real bad idea to let him go
 
I bet we bring an undrafted rookie free-agent kicker to compete. Or maybe some other guy, but someone may come definitely come in to challenge Mare. I see this playing out like it did last year between our punters--Turk and Donnie Jones.
 
He would've been cut by now if talks were still going bad. I don't think any of us will have to worry about Mare playing for another team atleast this season.
 
i hope he's back theres not too many kickers who are better than him idk what free agents are out there but im not interested in jose cortez
 
we need to keep him, plain and simple, if we are to make a run this year, do you want an undrafted rookie free agent kicking in playoff games, I dont care who he is that would make me nervous, Mare is seasoned making him the right guy for this team right now

He was NEVER going to be released...Saban and co. wanted to reneg. his contract to make the next few years (after this season) more cap friendly so that he can remains a Fin. That didn't get done yet...that is all... There was NEVER any talk about him leaving, being cut or being asked to take a pay cut...

IMO, he is too valuable at his given salary to even consider replacing...

There was a statement by Saban that said that Mare was never upset and that the article claiming such was inaccurate. I haven't heard anything since.
