he is going to be a resticted free agent. would u want him on the fins next year? ronnie isnt gonna be the same imo. i think we need another back that can be punishing! thoughts?

Not gonna happen. They will put the highest tender on him and we'd lose a first and third to get him. Parcells will use a later round pick on a big back or perhaps get one in free agency.

We have 4 solid runners in our backfield already (RB, Lobo, Ricky, and Chatman). This "RB isn't gonna be the same when he comes back" is a load IMHO. All reports are saying that he is progressing at a speedy pace and in addition, he is a really hard worker who is devoted to coming back on time.

That being said I love the hell outta the way that Barber runs and I think he would be a great compliment to RB. I would grab him in a heartbeat, but thats a lot of cap going towards running back and I don't think we can afford that.

our chances at landing julius jones are much higer than barber. Brown, Jones, Booker, would be a nice three headed monster. Would remind me of the Duce Staley, Correll Buckehalter, and Brian Westbrook committee from years past in Philly. Julius would be our Staley, Booker our Westbrook, and Ronnie would be a much better version of Buckhalter. Of course we are talking like 5 years ago, before Staley disappeared from the NFl, and before Westbrook was a legitamate ground threat. but the similarities are there.

Duce was a pounder, Jones is not a pounder.

But I agree that maybe the three in our backfield next year.

Marion Barber is a beast of a runningback. I honestly do think though that he's alot like Ronnie Brown. He can take the small screens and make people miss and he runs hard every play. I think Ronnie is just as good as Marion but the only thing that Barber has on Ronnie is his ability to stay healthy. Part of that could be because of splitting carries.

Julius Jones is such a weak runner. I don't even think that he could break an arm tackle from most corners in the league. Only running back outta that system worth a **** is that monster Barber.

and then theres Ricky and Chatman, both of whom I doubt will play for Miami next season. I could see Chatman going somewhere like Pittsburgh or Houston.

Really other than ronnie having an injury that he's had and will have plenty of time to heal from there is absolutley no reason to spend any cap space on another back. Our running backs were not the problem last season, nor a concern moving forward.

Ronnie will have his best year ever in 2008. I really like barber but just doesn't fit our needs. Pick any other position and thats where we need to get better, and thus where our money should be allocated.

Also, great to be back. Thanks for getting the site up and running again FH crew. I felt lost without this site especially with all the news dolphins have recently.

i dont know if you remember but it has been a while. back when ricky was on our team and playing before he retired, he was a punishing RB. i have faith that if ronnie isnt 100% ricky can come in and do the job

thats just not true. Jones is still a great runner. But he just lacks the ability to give and take a beating. His skills are still very useful.
