Saw that The Saints have decided not to pick up the fifth year option on Mark Ingram's contract. I know hes kind of been a bust his first couple of ye?ars but this past season I seen him do some really good things and kinda look like the guy that was supposed to been drafted out of Alabama but I still don't know. So wanted some of your thoughts and if you thought it would be a good idea to pick him up or late round pic to get his services. If he plays to his potential would he be better than any of the running backs in this years draft? Any thoughts?

I said last season that we should offer a 3rd for Ingram (would have cost us Dallas Thomas). I'd be more hesitant to give up picks in this draft, but I think he's an underrated player.

Let me know when Ingram stays healthy or can handle more than 8 touches a game.

Another Bama RB bust.

These guys come into the league with so much wear and tear under Nick Saban power run system. If I'm not mistaken both Ingram and Trent came in with a couple of knee clean up operations already on the books.

I'm not into it. He was the 4th-best RB on his team last year, imo, and that's not a good thing. With Sproles gone he's now the 3rd-best behind Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson, who can really run it. If anyone I'd rather offer a trade for Robinson, honestly.

Ingram, when he's on, reminds me of Moreno a little...pretty smart between the tackles, not much make-you-miss, not a ton of quickness or burst, can get to the edge if it's given to him but doesn't turn the corner from nothing, gets the extra couple yards because of plain old hard running and determination.

But he has also had foot injuries in two of his three NFL seasons, and those kinds of injuries are not good signs.

Don't get me wrong both had talent and sure we could say they benefit from running behind one if not the best O lines in college ball year in and year out. But the fact Bama backs are asked to carry the rock 25-30 times a game for 2-3 seasons is nuts.

It's as if you are spending a first round pick on a RB with 3 years NFL mileage on him. Especially when the average NFL RB only lasts 3-4 years.

Why would we take on another under performing veteran back? We have already seen Ingram's ceiling. A hand picked back from the 4-6 round range is going to be a much cheaper option for us over the next 4 years.

Agreed for the most part. Yeldon may be the exception; he is not a power back & may actually accomplish something in the bigs.

Question: Why did you put a "Playoffs" tag next to a thread about Mark Ingram? He's barely better than Daniel Thomas and he's on one of the best offenses in the league.
